"The point of a journey is not to arrive, the point of departure is not to return."
I have had the pleasure of teaching at Fireside for 14 amazing years and I'm looking forward to 14 more! I'm a Colorado native and a graduate of both Fairview High School (class of 88') and Regis University. After graduating high school, I spent 5 years in the Air Force followed by nearly two decades in the service industry before being drawn into the 'family business', TEACHING. My dad was a principal in BVSD for more than 30 years and my mom taught as well! I joined the profession in 2010 and haven't looked back since.
I have two grown sons, Grant (20) is in his third year of film school in North Carolina and Max (17) is starting his senior year at Centaurus. Together we enjoy skiing, concerts and lots of movies. When I'm not teaching or hanging out with them I really enjoy spending time with my partner listening to old fashioned vinyl records, cooking and watching silly game shows. I consider myself so lucky to be a part of the Fireside Community as well as the Louisville Community.
“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.”
Welcome to Second Grade! I started teaching in 2004 at Flatirons Elementary school where I have taught first and second grade. I came to Fireside in 2017 and am so grateful to be part of the Fireside community.
I went to the University of Colorado on a running scholarship and ran for the cross-country and track teams. I graduated from CU with a B.A. in Elementary Education, Psychology, and Kinesiology, and a M.A. in Reading and Literacy with an endorsement in Literacy K-12. I also have a Master's in Teacher Leadership and am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher.
I am an avid runner and love to hike, read, travel, and spend time with my husband and our two beautiful daughters (ages 11 and 12). I am looking forward to an exciting new school year as I am determined to learn, teach, grow, and achieve with my new second grade family.
