Delta College Trades Day!
A group of BVCS students got to experience the many career opportunities in the construction field at a local Trades Day event, hosted by Valley Builder's Exchange. Students learned about different training programs and apprenticeship opportunities, got to participate in different hands on experiences and made connections with those who work in the construction field!
High School Testing Day for 9th-11th Grades
On Friday, October 17th, all 9th-11th grade students will be taking standardized tests. Students will be on a minimum day schedule from 8:20 AM-12:00 PM. The following grades will be taking the tests specified below:
9th Grade - PSAT 8/9
10th Grade - PreACT
11th Grade - PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT)
This is an excellent opportunity for all students. Research has shown that test scores typically increase with each practice attempt. Students become more familiar with question framing, timing, and test structure. BVCHS also uses the scores to help develop curriculum and monitor college readiness. This is a free service provided by BVCHS; there is no cost to you for these exams.
More detailed information will be sent out to all high school families soon!

Grand Canyon University
Below is current information about their programs, scholarship levels, out of state tuition and fly-in event for seniors.
IGETC is a general education pattern that, upon full or “partial” (all but two courses) certification, will satisfy all or most lower-division general education requirements at California State University (CSU) campuses, most University of California (UC) campuses/majors, and some private/independent or out-of state universities. All courses must be passed with a grade of “C” or higher. IGETC certification is not recommended for “high-unit” majors. Complete a Guidance class or meet with a counselor to accurately plan coursework to satisfy transfer admission and upper-division major requirements.
Deciding on a college and/or choosing to embark on a career path can feel overwhelming! The BVCS counseling staff are here to walk students and parents through the process beginning in ninth grade and culminating with each seniors choosing the best personal path. We work to demystify the college admission process. Using the most current technical tools, we enable students to become informed stakeholders and responsible decision-makers. We know the college admissions process is a family experience, so we invite parents to work with us to help students plan for college, career and life.
