INFORMATION FOR SENIORS
Dear Seniors,
We had a college application workshop today during advisory and I want to be sure you have the information we covered! We touched the surface of college applications so please reach out with any specific questions if you plan to submit 4 year college applications. I have attached both the Google Slides and the packet we covered today. If you have not already, start compiling a list of colleges you plan to apply to, due dates, and what is required for each application. Click the ^ to read more.
Common App: create account now and begin compiling your college list; due dates vary by college.
CSU App: must wait to begin the application, opens October 1st through Cal State Apply; due by December 2nd.
UC App: can begin working on the application now but cannot submit until October 1st; due by December 2nd.
Private/Out of State: visit individual college websites for updates and information; due dates vary by college.
If using the Common App, you will put my information as your counselor (annap@bvcs.org) under the "Recommender and FERPA" section for each college. If you are using the Common App and have not sent me a resume/list of activities, please do so. This allows me to write a more well rounded letter of recommendation for you!
As a reminder, have multiple people read your college application essays before submission. You can share essays with me via Google Docs and I am happy to provide feedback. I recognize that this can be a stressful time so I am here to help! Looking forward to working with each of you and seeing God's plans unfold. There will also be more information coming your way regarding financial aid, scholarships, etc!
Lastly, two important dates to keep in mind:
Christian College Fair @ Ripon Christian - Monday, September 30th - 6:00-8:00 PM
MJC Application Workshop @ BVCS - Wednesday, November 6th - Advisory
If you are considering attending MJC following graduation, this application workshop will allow you to complete and submit your MJC application that same day. A rep from MJC is coming to our school to provide this service for you! More information to come.
Sincerely,
Anna Poole

IGETC is a general education pattern that, upon full or “partial” (all but two courses) certification, will satisfy all or most lower-division general education requirements at California State University (CSU) campuses, most University of California (UC) campuses/majors, and some private/independent or out-of state universities. All courses must be passed with a grade of “C” or higher. IGETC certification is not recommended for “high-unit” majors. Complete a Guidance class or meet with a counselor to accurately plan coursework to satisfy transfer admission and upper-division major requirements.
Deciding on a college and/or choosing to embark on a career path can feel overwhelming! The BVCS counseling staff are here to walk students and parents through the process beginning in ninth grade and culminating with each seniors choosing the best personal path. We work to demystify the college admission process. Using the most current technical tools, we enable students to become informed stakeholders and responsible decision-makers. We know the college admissions process is a family experience, so we invite parents to work with us to help students plan for college, career and life.
