Quotes from BVCS Preschool children...
After our discussion of how God made the whole world out of nothing, one of our 3 year olds Ben, raised his hand and said..."Mrs. Yarbrough, I know something God made that wasnt out of nothing..." I responded, "what is it?" He told us "God made man out of dust!" And he was right. When I told his mom about it she said he had learned that from his sister who attends first grade here at Big Valley.
A group of children were playing outside and Mrs. Kashefi noticed one of them was standing by himself looking sad. She went over to him and asked him if he was sad. He started to cry and said "yes". She asked him why he was sad and he said he didnt know. Several of the boys in his class noticed this and came over and asked about him. Mrs. Kashefi said he was sad. One of our TK students Paul, suggested that they pray for him. He led the prayer asking God to "help him not to be sad & to sort out his emotions so he could feel better." The group all held hands and prayed over their friend.
In chapel I was trying to help the children understand how there are things in the world that will try and get us to go against God's word and that we need to watch out for them. I began to share the story of Eve and the evil serpent. When I first mentioned the serpent one of our TK students Koen raised his hand and shared with the class that the serpent was really Satan and that the angels pushed him out of heaven because he didnt listen to God, he then went on to say that after Adam & Eve ate the fruit they got kicked out of the garden.
These children are brilliant and amazing! Never under estimate the depth of understanding of a child...
