BVC Athletic Booster Spring Tri-Tip Dinner
We are better together!
A special thank you to John Nance, the Booster Board, and Boosters for organizing such a successful Tri-Tip Dinner. Your leadership and commitment continue to make a meaningful difference in our athletic community.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who generously gave their time and effort to prepare the meal. Your willingness to serve leaves a lasting impact on our student-athletes and programs.
And to everyone who purchased a Tri-Tip dinner or donated a meal, we are incredibly grateful. Your generosity directly blesses our student-athletes and helps us continue building a program that strives for excellence both on and off the field.
We appreciate each and every one of you!
Go Lions!

Austin Lung
Co-Player of the Week
We are better together!
Big Valley Christian Athletics is proud to recognize Cody Uribe and Austin Lung as this week’s Co-Players of the Week, following an impressive stretch that saw the Lions battle two of the strongest teams in league play.
In a hard-fought series, BVC earned a gritty five-set victory over Ripon High School before narrowly falling in another five-set thriller to Ripon Christian. Through both matches, Uribe and Lung were instrumental in driving the Lions’ competitive edge and resilience.
Cody Uribe delivered a dominant offensive performance, recording 35 kills and adding 5 service aces, consistently pressuring opposing defenses. His ability to rise in key moments helped propel the Lions to their win and kept them within reach in a tightly contested second match.
Austin Lung matched that impact with remarkable efficiency, posting an outstanding .434 hitting percentage along with 27 kills and 3 solo blocks. His presence at the net, both offensively and defensively, provided stability and momentum for the team throughout the week.
Beyond the stat sheet, what sets these two apart is their senior leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment to representing Christ in all they do. Whether in moments of victory or defeat, Cody and Austin exemplify what it means to compete with integrity, encourage teammates, and honor God through athletics.
Their performances this week are a reflection not only of their talent but also of their character—and that is what truly makes them stand out.
Congratulations to Cody Uribe and Austin Lung, our BVC Co-Players of the Week.

BVC Coaches Who Make a Difference
Last week, we reflected on the idea that leadership is better with friends—that God never intended for us to lead alone. This week, we want to take a step further and recognize the men and women who live that truth out every single day: our coaches.
At Big Valley Christian, coaching is more than drawing up plays or organizing practices. It is daily discipleship. It is showing up, investing, listening, encouraging, and leading young people toward something greater than themselves. Our coaches are some of the most influential voices in the lives of our student-athletes, and their impact stretches far beyond the scoreboard.
We begin by highlighting our head football coach, Adam Lema.
Coach Lema exemplifies what it means to lead with purpose and relationship. His classroom is always open—not just to football players, but to any athlete who needs a place to belong, to be encouraged, or simply to be seen. That open-door approach speaks volumes. It tells our students: you matter beyond your performance.
Through team devotions and postgame talks, Coach Lema consistently points his players back to Christ—whether in moments of victory or in seasons of challenge. He doesn’t just celebrate wins; he teaches perspective. He doesn’t just address losses; he builds character. In doing so, he helps shape young men who understand that their identity is not rooted in the outcome of a game, but in who they are in Christ.
One of the clearest signs of his impact is what happens after players graduate. Former athletes regularly return—not out of obligation, but out of respect and gratitude. That kind of return speaks louder than any record. It reflects a coach who has invested deeply, loved genuinely, and led faithfully.
Coach Lema’s leadership produces foundational growth, connection, and lasting influence. Wins on the field are celebrated, but the victories off the field are truly the legacy Coach Lema is trying to build and that defines the program.

As we continue through this season, we want to intentionally recognize more of the coaches who pour into our student-athletes day in and day out. These are the individuals who model Christ, build relationships, and create programs for athletes to seek excellence.
To all of our coaches: thank you. Your work matters. Your relationships are lasting, and the lives you are impacting will carry that influence far beyond their years at Big Valley Christian.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 reminds us:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
Go Lions.

Athletic Sports Clearance
Are you considering coming out for a Spring season sport? Before you can participate in tryouts, you must complete the online clearance at Home Campus. Both parents and athlete will need to finish the online application and upload your current sports physical. Don't delay! We don't want you to miss out on participating in Lions athletics.
F.A.Q. (Frequently asked Questions) about Athletic Clearances
Want to play a sport at BVCS?
Complete online information and signatures on homecampus.com
Upload your current (within 1 year) sports physical onto homecampus.com
You do not need to turn in any paperwork to the office. It is all done online.
You will receive an email from Home Campus notifying you that you are cleared.
Home Campus does not alert the Athletic Office when you complete your portion of the clearance process.
Please note that we are the ones who manually mark student-athletes as “cleared.” If you do not receive an email confirming your clearance, that means you're not cleared yet.
If you have any questions or believe there’s an error, feel free to contact michellec@bvcs.org to check on your athlete's clearance status
Student-athletes will not be allowed to participate in tryouts, practices, or games until this information is complete and you are cleared.
Does the clearance from last year still work the next year?
No, it does not carry over
If the sports physical has not expired yet and I uploaded it last year, do I have to upload it again this year?
Yes, we cannot see the previous year's documentation. Each year is separate. You can upload that same physical from the previous school year if it is still valid.
If the sports physical expires mid-season, do we need a new physical?
Yes, we are alerted when it expires, and the athlete cannot continue to participate in any physical activity until a new one has been uploaded.
All the athletes on this wall have played 12 sports in their high school career: 3 sports per year for all 4 years in high school. This award is recognized with a lifetime Lions pass that gets you into all Lions home games for free for life and we put your name on this wall to celebrate you. Being a 12 sport athlete is no small feat and requires dedication to sport and to academics to manage that intense load. We are proud of all our 12 sport award winners and challenge you to be one too!
