WHAT'S NEW AT BVCS?

WHAT DOES THE GOVERNOR'S THURSDAY ANNOUNCEMENT MEAN FOR BVCS?

Yesterday, the Governor announced a regional stay-at-home order similar to what we experienced in March, with certain exceptions around essential services. It is important to note, the orders will not impact schools that have already reopened, therefore BVCS PS - 12 will remain open. Even under a stay-at-home order school districts are allowed to conduct in-person instruction models without modification as confirmed by the Stanislaus County Office of Education. Families may continue to choose distance learning TK - 12th grade if desired.

Join us Saturday at the BVCS football stadium for a community craft fair!

NEW BVCS FAMILY APP:

Would you like to get a sneak peek at our upcoming, new BVCS Family App? Use your smart phone and go to your app store, download Big Valley Christian School and start exploring!

STANISLAUS COUNTY COLOR TIER CHANGE:

Now that we are open, we will not be closed down even though Stanislaus County is going back to the purple tier. Under the current rules/guidance, once we fully open, only a widespread case (5%) of COVID on our school campus would close us.

2020 CARES ACT: Tax Deduction for Charitable Contributions

For 2020, changes to federal tax benefits were made to incentivize charitable giving of cash donations.

If you don't itemize your taxes (you take the standard deductions), you can claim a $300 deduction on your federal taxes.

If you do itemize your federal taxes, you can deduct charitable contributions of up to 100% of your AGI (adjusted gross income).

For corporations, the deductions for charitable contributions has been increased to 25% of taxable income.

COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES:

BVCS graduates have gotten in to an impressive list of colleges and universities over recent years. Check out the list here:

RECYCLING AT BVCS:

Your trash could be Christ's treasure! Every year we send a team of students to the Dominican Republic to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people there. This year we are recycling cans and bottles to help raise money to send our team out with the Gospel. On campus you might see blue recycling bins for students to use. There is also a large container in the parking lot by Good Sam. Feel free to bring your recycling from home and drop it in there to help.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY:

At BVCS, we want to partner with families and help our students be safe in all aspects of life, including in the digital world. Please read this helpful information to find out more on how you can be aware of your child's internet use.

TEMPERATURE CHECKS:

You will notice our new health forms allow for families to take temperatures at home before coming to campus each morning. This new simplification (with Public Health's approval) will take effect immediately and is reflected on the daily Student Health Check Form.
