HOMECOMING
There is something special about Homecoming.
It’s more than a football game. More than the lights, the crowd, the music, or the final score. It’s the memories.
• The excitement of gathering together for Friday Night Lights.
• The anticipation of the King and Queen Court. The laughter and competition of the Powerpuff games.
• The friendships, inside jokes, shared experiences, and moments that somehow become stories we remember for the rest of our lives.
These are some of the things that make the high school experience uniquely American. Generations of students have grown up looking forward to Homecoming, school traditions, Friday night football, and the friendships that are formed along the way.
But here is the amazing part:
You are creating those memories right now.
Someday, you may not remember the score of the game or who won every competition; I surely cannot remember my homecoming, but you will remember who stood beside you.
You will remember the laughter in the stands, the excitement on the field, the people you celebrated with, and the moments when you simply enjoyed being together.
So, Lions, don't just watch these moments happen: Be part of them.
• Cheer for your friends.
• Celebrate your classmates.
• Encourage your teammates.
• Take pictures.
• Laugh.
• Make memories.
• Include someone who is standing on the outside looking in.
Someday, you'll look back and realize that these weren't just school events.
They were memories you helped create.
Go Lions!
More Than a School.
A Place to Belong.
A Place to Become.

Current status
The U.S. Senate passed the bill 77–22.
It is not law yet. It must still pass the House and be signed by the president.
The House is expected to consider it after November 9, 2026.
If Congress does not complete the process before the new Congress begins in January, the legislation would have to start over.
1. Transfer Rules
The bill would allow one transfer without penalty during a college career.
A second transfer would generally require sitting out a year.
This could make your first college choice more important.
2. Eligibility
The bill would establish a five-year eligibility window beginning when an athlete graduates high school or turns 19.
Certain exceptions could apply.
3. NIL & College Compensation
The legislation would establish federal protections around athletes earning NIL compensation.
It would also allow schools to provide substantially more direct compensation to athletes.
The proposed annual institutional spending limit would rise from roughly $21.5 million to $49 million, with $5 million reserved for nonrevenue/Olympic sports.
4. Scholarships & Athlete Protection
The bill includes protections designed to help athletes complete their education.
It also addresses medical coverage and other athlete protections.
Some provisions would have expiration dates, so the rules could change in the future.
5. Women's & Olympic Sports
Approximately $5 million of the proposed spending structure would be reserved for women's and Olympic/nonrevenue sports.
Supporters say this is intended to help protect opportunities beyond football and basketball.
6. College Sports Could Look Different
The bill would also:
Limit Power 4 conferences to 20 schools.
Place restrictions on schools moving between Power 4 conferences.
Give the NCAA an antitrust exemption intended to help it enforce national rules.
Require disclosure of certain foreign-government or sovereign-wealth-fund investments.
Nothing is final yet.
The Senate-passed version could be changed substantially in the House or fail to become law.
For a student graduating in 2026–27 and entering college in 2027–28, the important takeaway is:
College athletics is changing rapidly.
Know the rules before you choose a school, sign an agreement, accept NIL opportunities, or transfer.

Appropriate conduct is expected at games, practices, and team group chats.
Practices are closed unless communicated otherwise.
Playing time decisions are made by coaches and are not discussed before or after games/practices. Questions about playing time should be directed to the Athletic Director through an appointment.
Transportation: Parent drivers may be needed throughout the season. See team parents for more information.

Athletic Sports Clearance
Are you considering coming out for a Spring season sport? Before you can participate in tryouts, you must complete the online clearance at Home Campus. Both parents and athlete will need to finish the online application and upload your current sports physical. Don't delay! We don't want you to miss out on participating in Lions athletics.
F.A.Q. (Frequently asked Questions) about Athletic Clearances
Want to play a sport at BVCS?
Complete online information and signatures on homecampus.com
Upload your current (within 1 year) sports physical onto homecampus.com
You do not need to turn in any paperwork to the office. It is all done online.
You will receive an email from Home Campus notifying you that you are cleared.
Home Campus does not alert the Athletic Office when you complete your portion of the clearance process.
Please note that we are the ones who manually mark student-athletes as “cleared.” If you do not receive an email confirming your clearance, that means you're not cleared yet.
If you have any questions or believe there’s an error, feel free to contact michellec@bvcs.org to check on your athlete's clearance status
Student-athletes will not be allowed to participate in tryouts, practices, or games until this information is complete and you are cleared.
Does the clearance from last year still work the next year?
No, it does not carry over
If the sports physical has not expired yet and I uploaded it last year, do I have to upload it again this year?
Yes, we cannot see the previous year's documentation. Each year is separate. You can upload that same physical from the previous school year if it is still valid.
If the sports physical expires mid-season, do we need a new physical?
Yes, we are alerted when it expires, and the athlete cannot continue to participate in any physical activity until a new one has been uploaded.
All the athletes on this wall have played 12 sports in their high school career: 3 sports per year for all 4 years in high school. This award is recognized with a lifetime Lions pass that gets you into all Lions home games for free for life and we put your name on this wall to celebrate you. Being a 12 sport athlete is no small feat and requires dedication to sport and to academics to manage that intense load. We are proud of all our 12 sport award winners and challenge you to be one too!
ATTENTION SENIORS: Graduating seniors especially current/former athletes and those who love sports, the NCOA is looking for officials! Contact Little.A@monet.k12.ca.us for more information.
