ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
#51 Jonah Cheek, Center/Nose Tackle, Football
Congratulations to Jonah Cheek on an outstanding performance against Albany HS!
As our offensive line captain, Jonah’s leadership and communication in calling blocking schemes helped create opportunities for the offense to move the ball.
Defensively, he anchored the line and helped lead the Lions to their fourth consecutive victory, keeping BVCS undefeated!
Jonah’s willingness to lead by example and do the work in the trenches reflects the character and toughness we want to see in every Lion.
His leadership and unselfish play continue to make a difference on both sides of the ball.
Congratulations, Jonah, on representing the Lion standard of excellence!
Seek excellence - Train with purpose - Compete for Christ

Parents Who Choose with Purpose
Dear Parents,
Thank you for the many ways you invest in your student-athlete. Your time, talents, encouragement, sacrifice, and resources are helping build something much bigger than a team.
Every practice, game, conversation, car ride, and challenge is an opportunity for your student to grow, not only as an athlete, but as a person. These experiences become part of the journey you are sharing with your child.
But your investment reaches beyond your own family.
God has entrusted each of us with time, talents, and resources, and as parents, we have the opportunity to model for our children what it means to steward those gifts well, in school, at home, in athletics, and in our community.
The friendships, excitement, challenges, victories, and everyday experiences of athletics create opportunities for coaches, teammates, families, and our entire BVCS community to help shape and encourage the next generation.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” — 1 Peter 4:10
You may think you are simply giving your time, sharing your talents, or making an investment to provide a meaningful experience for your student while in school.
But you are building something that will extend beyond them- a Legacy.
Your example, your faithfulness, your generosity, and your commitment influence the parents and students watching and following in your footsteps.
The scoreboard will eventually fade. The seasons will pass. But the character, faith, relationships, and legacy we build together can last for generations.
Thank you for building with purpose and for partnering with us as we help our students become who God has called them to be.
More Than a School.
A Place to Belong.
A Place to Become.

College Recruiting Corner
But choosing a college is about more than finding a place to play.
Who is going to mentor your child?
Will they encourage and strengthen their faith?
Will they challenge them academically and develop their critical thinking?
Will they help them use athletics as an opportunity to discover their identity in Christ—not in their performance?
Those are questions worth asking before choosing a college.
College athletics can be an incredible opportunity—but the goal isn't simply to find a team.
The goal is to find the right environment for your student-athlete to grow—in faith, academics, character, and competition.
Set up a time to visit with Coach Snelgrove about your potential college athletics opportunities. drews@bvcs.org
Athletes and parents are encouraged to reach out—even if you’re just starting to explore your options.
RECRUITING REMINDER:
Don't choose a college because they recruited you. Choose a college because it is the right fit for you.
BVCS ATHLETICS | Don't wait to be recruited. Learn how to become recruitable.
If you missed the Seminar, you can review the slides here: 26-27 BVCS College Recruiting Seminar.
Contact Coach Snelgrove (drews@bvcs.org) for a meeting on college recruiting. It's never too early or too late to start the recruiting process.

Appropriate conduct is expected at games, practices, and team group chats.
Practices are closed unless communicated otherwise.
Playing time decisions are made by coaches and are not discussed before or after games/practices. Questions about playing time should be directed to the Athletic Director through an appointment.

Athletic Sports Clearance
Are you considering coming out for a Spring season sport? Before you can participate in tryouts, you must complete the online clearance at Home Campus. Both parents and athlete will need to finish the online application and upload your current sports physical. Don't delay! We don't want you to miss out on participating in Lions athletics.
F.A.Q. (Frequently asked Questions) about Athletic Clearances
Want to play a sport at BVCS?
Complete online information and signatures on homecampus.com
Upload your current (within 1 year) sports physical onto homecampus.com
You do not need to turn in any paperwork to the office. It is all done online.
You will receive an email from Home Campus notifying you that you are cleared.
Home Campus does not alert the Athletic Office when you complete your portion of the clearance process.
Please note that we are the ones who manually mark student-athletes as “cleared.” If you do not receive an email confirming your clearance, that means you're not cleared yet.
If you have any questions or believe there’s an error, feel free to contact michellec@bvcs.org to check on your athlete's clearance status
Student-athletes will not be allowed to participate in tryouts, practices, or games until this information is complete and you are cleared.
Does the clearance from last year still work the next year?
No, it does not carry over
If the sports physical has not expired yet and I uploaded it last year, do I have to upload it again this year?
Yes, we cannot see the previous year's documentation. Each year is separate. You can upload that same physical from the previous school year if it is still valid.
If the sports physical expires mid-season, do we need a new physical?
Yes, we are alerted when it expires, and the athlete cannot continue to participate in any physical activity until a new one has been uploaded.
All the athletes on this wall have played 12 sports in their high school career: 3 sports per year for all 4 years in high school. This award is recognized with a lifetime Lions pass that gets you into all Lions home games for free for life and we put your name on this wall to celebrate you. Being a 12 sport athlete is no small feat and requires dedication to sport and to academics to manage that intense load. We are proud of all our 12 sport award winners and challenge you to be one too!
ATTENTION SENIORS: Graduating seniors especially current/former athletes and those who love sports, the NCOA is looking for officials! Contact Little.A@monet.k12.ca.us for more information.
