Dear BVCS Families,
As we wrap up another meaningful school year at BVCS, we are reflecting with gratitude on all God has done in and through our school community. This season also brings several staff and leadership transitions, retirements, and new opportunities ahead. While change is never easy, we are excited for what God has next — both for those stepping into new adventures and for the future of BVCS.
We invite our school community (past and present) to join us on Monday, June 1, from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM in the Venue as we celebrate and honor all staff members transitioning from BVCS, including the incredible long-term service of Deborah Raingruber (over 30 years) and Cindy Alavezos (over 20 years). Lunch will be provided, and we would love for you to come express your gratitude and encouragement.
As we prepare for this next season at BVCS, we are excited to officially welcome David O’Leary as our incoming Superintendent beginning June 1. David has already been a valued part of the BVCS community, and we are grateful for the leadership, experience, and heart for Christian education he brings to this role. We ask our BVCS community to be praying for David and his family during this transition — for wisdom, encouragement, discernment, and God’s guidance as he begins leading BVCS into this next chapter.
We are both grateful to continue serving and supporting BVCS in the coming school year. We move forward with genuine excitement and confidence in what God has ahead, trusting Him to continue building something deeply impactful through this community as we remain committed to nurturing and equipping students to impact the world for Christ.
With gratefulness,
Bobby Kirchner and Michelle Mott
Spring MAP Assessment Data:
Big Valley Christian School students continued to demonstrate strong academic performance and growth on Spring 2026 MAP assessments across grades 1–8.
Overall results showed BVCS students performing well above national averages in Reading, Math, and Language Usage. Reading remained a particular strength for the school, with students finishing near the 70th percentile nationally overall, while Language Usage performance reached the 75th percentile nationally. Math achievement also remained strong, with many students demonstrating healthy academic growth throughout the school year.
Several grade levels posted especially strong results, including:
Grade 2 Reading at the 81st percentile nationally
Strong Math performance and growth in Grades 3, 4, and 6
Exceptional Language Usage achievement in Grades 6 and 8
These results reflect the hard work of our students, the partnership of our families, and the dedication of our teachers and staff in providing a Christ-centered, academically strong learning environment.
MAP assessment data also helps our teachers and administrators continue refining instruction, identifying areas of growth, and providing support where needed so that every student can continue developing to their fullest potential. We are grateful for another year of strong academic progress across BVCS.
