Our goal with this part of the Friday @ 5:00 is to give you, as the parent(s), resources to have conversations about Jesus, with your family.

 For Chapel this week, we met on Thursday, in the Worship Center and it was Preview Day and 8th Grade Visitation Day! We had an exciting time together as a school for 7th-12 and K-6th, singing songs of praise to God and hearing from God's Word. We talked about Salvation and the Doctrine of Justification and Adoption. In Romans 3:21-26, Paul refers to believers as having been justified by God, because of the good work He has done. This leads directly into Adoption. In Romans 8:14-15, Paul talks about believers as God's children, we have been adopted into the family of God. This adoption allows us to be heirs, as Paul says in Romans 8:17, "...heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ,..." This is an important truth in Scripture for the believer to wrestle and understand. God has declared us as His heirs.

This weekend, take the opportunity to have a family meal at your table. Interact with your family about everyone's day, how their week went and how each of you are doing in your walk with Jesus. Ask questions about how your children are doing with reading the Bible. Then, take a moment to ask them, what does it mean that we are heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ? Give them time to process this question, and maybe even come back to it after the meal is over. Being an heir of God speaks first to our relationship with God. Paul is clearly defining for us what it means to be adopted into the family of God, being an heir, means being a child. Furthermore, to be heirs of Christ, means we will share in what God has given (and will give) to Jesus.
