This Week in Athletics
FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR'S DESK:
A Season for Everything
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
As the fall season comes to a close and playoffs begin, we take a moment to reflect with gratitude on all that God has done through our student-athletes, coaches, and families. Every practice, every game, and every moment (good and bad times) of teamwork has been a part of God’s greater plan—not just to develop skill, but to shape hearts that honor Him.
The end of a season can be bittersweet. We celebrate victories, learn from challenges, and say goodbye to seniors who have led by example. Yet, just as nature moves from one season to the next, so too does God lead us into new beginnings. Winter sports are approaching, and with them comes a fresh opportunity—new goals, new growth, and new ways to glorify Christ through competition.
As we prepare for what’s ahead, let’s remember that success in God’s eyes isn’t measured by the scoreboard, but by the character we display when we win or lose. Let us continue to strive for excellence, unity, and humility, knowing that we play for an audience of One. But, since we are playing the games, Go Lions!
Prayer for the Season Ahead:
“Lord, thank You for the blessings of this past season. Please help us carry forward the lessons learned and the relationships built. As we enter a new season, may we continue to compete with integrity, encourage one another, and reflect Your light in all we do. Amen.”
Let’s finish strong, begin anew, and trust that God’s timing is always perfect.

By Big Valley Christian Athletics
The Big Valley Christian Varsity Girls Volleyball team has captured the 2025 Mother Lode League Championship, marking a season filled with heart, determination, and faith-fueled teamwork. Under the leadership of Coach Michelle Camoirano, the Lions roared through league play, finishing at the top of one of the region’s most competitive conferences.
Throughout the season, the Lions displayed exceptional unity and grit. With a 8-2 league record, Big Valley Christian consistently showcased poise under pressure, turning close matches into defining victories. From intense five-set thrillers to dominant sweeps, every player contributed to the team’s championship journey.
Coach Camoirano praised her athletes for their growth and perseverance, saying, “Our girls worked hard every single day — not just to win, but to represent Christ in how they played and supported one another. This championship is a reflection of their faith, effort, and love for the game.”
The Lions’ success was built on strong defense, relentless hustle, and selfless play. Veteran leaders guided a balanced roster that blended experience with rising talent — a formula that carried them through tough matchups against league rivals like Linden and Calaveras. Each victory added momentum, culminating in Big Valley Christian claiming the Mother Lode League title and securing the #2 seed in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
As the Lions prepare for postseason play, their focus remains the same — glorifying God through their play, supporting one another, and representing Big Valley Christian with excellence on and off the court.
The entire BVCS community celebrates this achievement and the spirit that defines Lion athletics: faith, family, and fierce competition. Congratulations to Coach Camoirano, her staff, and the 2025 Varsity Volleyball team on a historic season.
Go Lions!

Athlete of the Week:
Annika Rumble
This week, we’re celebrating Annika Rumble, a standout senior for our Varsity Girls Volleyball Team, for her exceptional play and leadership as our defensive specialist.
Annika has been an incredible asset to our team, known for her steady presence, competitive spirit, and heart for her teammates. Her versatility has been a huge blessing this season—when injuries or lineup changes have come our way, she’s stepped in wherever she’s been needed without hesitation. Whether it’s in the back row defending, at the service line delivering consistent serves, or filling in at other positions, Annika’s adaptability and team-first attitude shine through.
Her strengths in defense and serving anchor our team, but it’s her commitment, resilience, and willingness to do whatever it takes for the good of the team that truly set her apart. We’re grateful for the example she sets both on and off the court and proud to honor her as this week’s athlete spotlight.

Athletic Sports Clearance
Are you considering coming out for a Spring season sport? Before you can participate in tryouts, you must complete the online clearance at Home Campus. Both parents and athlete will need to finish the online application and upload your current sports physical. Don't delay! We don't want you to miss out on participating in Lions athletics.
F.A.Q. (Frequently asked Questions) about Athletic Clearances
Want to play a sport at BVCS?
Complete online information and signatures on homecampus.com
Upload your current (within 1 year) sports physical onto homecampus.com
You do not need to turn in any paperwork to the office. It is all done online.
You will receive an email from Home Campus notifying you that you are cleared.
Home Campus does not alert the Athletic Office when you complete your portion of the clearance process.
Please note that we are the ones who manually mark student-athletes as “cleared.” If you do not receive an email confirming your clearance, that means you're not cleared yet.
If you have any questions or believe there’s an error, feel free to contact michellec@bvcs.org to check on your athlete's clearance status
Student-athletes will not be allowed to participate in tryouts, practices, or games until this information is complete and you are cleared.
Does the clearance from last year still work the next year?
No, it does not carry over
If the sports physical has not expired yet and I uploaded it last year, do I have to upload it again this year?
Yes, we cannot see the previous year's documentation. Each year is separate. You can upload that same physical from the previous school year if it is still valid.
If the sports physical expires mid-season, do we need a new physical?
Yes, we are alerted when it expires, and the athlete cannot continue to participate in any physical activity until a new one has been uploaded.
All the athletes on this wall have played 12 sports in their high school career: 3 sports per year for all 4 years in high school. This award is recognized with a lifetime Lions pass that gets you into all Lions home games for free for life and we put your name on this wall to celebrate you. Being a 12 sport athlete is no small feat and requires dedication to sport and to academics to manage that intense load. We are proud of all our 12 sport award winners and challenge you to be one too!
