FIRST: Take a good amount of time looking through the books featured on the AP Suggested Titles Page on this site. Click on the covers that interest you to read the description (courtesy of Amazon.com book listings) and make a list of the ones that appeal to you.
THEN, do the activities!
Activity 1: DUE on JUNE 14, 2024 Write me a letter. Read mine, then write me back. You can do this on a Google Doc and share it, or handwrite it and bring to me. This assignment will be posted on our Google Classroom as well!
Activity 2: Read...
The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. I provided a PDF to use in a pinch (click on the title hyperlink), but if you prefer the book, it is widely available at libraries and wherever books are sold! (Based on this book and the poems in the letter, you'll see that I'm going with the subject of HOME for the start of the year!) Ensure it is READ BY THE FIRST DAY of SCHOOL.
Activity 3: Read...
At least ONE BOOK from the AP Literature Suggested Titles page
Be prepared to write an AP Literature Exam Essay in class on OUR FIRST DAY using this book (if you read more than one title, you may select the book you'd like to use).
The essay will be Free Response Question where you are given a general prompt and use a book of of your choice to respond. As mentioned for this, you will use the book you select from the list.
Review the criteria and familiarize yourself for the Free-Response Question HERE . This will provide insight to scoring and writing samples.
CHECK OUT all the Free Response prompts from this year to the beginning of testing! ONE of these will be given to you for our first day of school writing.
Activity 4: Enroll in our AP Classroom (more details to follow! It should be open in early July. I will communicate with you via Google Classroom and email.)
