Effective July 11, 2024, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) updated its COVID-19 health guidance for TK-12 schools. This guidance outlines key safety measures for schools and families, summarized below:
✅ Vaccination – COVID-19 vaccinations are recommended for all eligible individuals.
✅ Testing – Home antigen testing will be the primary COVID-19 mitigation strategy.
✅ Ventilation – Schools will maintain high-quality air ventilation systems to reduce airborne virus particles.
✅ Masking – Face masks are strongly recommended.
✅ Hand Hygiene – Frequent handwashing continues to be encouraged.
✅ Stay Home When Sick – If symptomatic, please stay home and get tested before returning to school.

Students: If your student is ill for 3 or more days, a doctor's note confirming the illness is required. Reference: BUSD Attendance Policy Please email your school's clerk your note.
Staff: You are responsible for entering your attendance in SmartFind Express. If you are out for five days or more, you will be required to submit a note from a medical provider. Reference: Collective Bargaining Agreements Please email Human Resources at dtran@busd.net with your note if it applies.
