The Berryessa Union School District will launch the 2023-24 school year on Thursday, August 10, 2023!
As in the past, to reopen safely, BUSD will be following the safety guidelines and requirements of the following agencies: (1) the Santa Clara County County Public Health Department (SCCPHD); (2) the California Department of Public Health (CDPH); the Centers for Disease Control (CDC); and, (4) CalOSHA.
Recently, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released the COVID-19 health guidance for K-12 schools, effective May 23, 2023. This new guidance addresses COVID-19 safety mitigation strategies, hygiene, and the responsibilities of schools and families, which are listed below in summary:
Vaccination – COVID-19 vaccinations are recommended for all those eligible;
Testing – Home antigen testing will be the primary strategy for COVID mitigation at school;
Ventilation – Maintain high quality air ventilation systems for reducing virus aerosols;
Masking – Face masks continue to be strongly recommended;
Hand Hygiene – Continue to reinforce the importance of frequent hand washing;
When symptomatic, please stay home until you get tested.
Prior to the first day of school, each school site will distribute at home antigen testing kits for all students and staff. Please contact your school for more details. We strongly encourage our families and staff members to test prior to returning to school for the 2023-24 school year.
