Mrs. Weber's Classroom Management Plan
1. Classroom Rules and Expectations:
Respect Technology: Handle all equipment, software, and resources with care. Follow all instructions for technology use.
Responsibility: Come to class prepared with necessary materials, including any required tech gear (e.g., chromebooks, chargers). Complete assignments and projects on time.
Safety and Security: Adhere to cybersecurity guidelines, including protecting personal data and respecting others' privacy. Report any technical issues or concerns immediately.
Engagement: Participate actively in discussions, group work, and hands-on activities. Stay focused on the task and utlilize time to complete tasks.
2. Procedures and Routines:
Entering the Classroom:
Enter calmly and promptly.
Log in to your chromebook or the clasroom workstation or device as directed.
Check the board for daily objectives and tasks.
Using Technology:
Use technology respectfully, responsibly and carefully.
Use technology only for classroom-related activities during lessons.
Save and back up work regularly to avoid data loss.
Group Work:
Collaborate respectfully and contribute equally to group projects.
Ending Class:
Save all work and log out of systems.
Clean up your workspace.
Quietyly transition to your next class.
3. Positive Reinforcement:
Recognition: Acknowledge and celebrate students' achievements and improvements, both individually and in groups.
Rewards: Implement a system for earning “tech credits” or “virtual badges” for demonstrating exceptional skills, creativity, or cooperation.
Privileges: Offer opportunities for students to choose projects, lead discussions, or explore advanced topics as rewards for consistent positive behavior.
4. Addressing Misbehavior:
Preventative Measures: Establish clear expectations for technology use and monitor adherence. Provide engaging lessons and interactive activities to minimize distractions.
Immediate Response: Address minor disruptions discreetly. Use verbal reminders or a digital signal to indicate when focus is needed.
Consequences: Implement a tiered system for addressing misbehavior, which may include:
Warning: Verbal or written notice of the issue.
Loss of Tech Privileges: Temporary removal of access to certain technologies.
Parent/Guardian Contact: Notify parents/guardians of ongoing issues.
Referral: Involve school administration or a counselor for persistent or severe issues.
5. Communication with Parents/Guardians:
Updates: Send periodic updates on student progress, including technology-related assignments and behavior via PowerTeacher Gradebook. Publicly post weekly lesson plans on Burwell Public Schools Staff website.
Feedback: Encourage parents/guardians to communicate any concerns or observations about their child’s use of technology.
Meetings: Arrange meetings with parents/guardians if significant issues arise regarding technology use or behavior.
6. Student Involvement:
Technology Agreements: Ensure that students and parents have signed Technology Use Agreements.
Peer Support: Encourage students to help each other with technical issues and collaborative projects.
Feedback: Regularly gather student feedback on technology use and classroom activities to make improvements.
7. Professional Development:
Stay Updated: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices for classroom management.
Collaboration: Work with other technology educators to share insights and strategies for effective classroom management.
8. Emergency Procedures:
Tech Failures: Have a backup plan for lessons in case of technology failures, such as alternative activities or printed materials.
Safety Protocols: Ensure that students know the location of safety documentation and that they know procedures for fire, tornado and emergency drills and events.
