The Burwell Mentorship Curriculum was adopted in the 2022/2023 school year and is a major piece of growing our own at BPS. The teacher mentor program is a two year process to help new teachers to the district function more effectively and grow professionally and personally during their first two years of teaching at Burwell Public Schools. The purpose of the mentoring program is to facilitate the growth of the beginning teacher who is new to the district. This is done by identifying and meeting the needs of the beginning teacher through collaborative efforts of the mentor, school administrator, and the mentee. The goal of the new teacher mentor program is to help beginning teachers acquire and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to not only be successful during the first years of teaching, but to continue as an effective educator for many years.
Burwell Public Schools utilizes and teaches the Marzano framework. As we grow our teachers year in and year out we use the following tools in our observation and evaluation processes.
