I have been the yearbook adviser since 2010 and absolutely LOVE it. Our goal is to create a yearbook that captures lasting memories to last a lifetime! My students always seem to blow me away with their hard work, dedication and creativity. We focus on keeping a consistent theme throughout the book and selling ads so that we can purchase equipment, attend workshops, and order extra "bells and whistles" for the yearbook. We would like to thank everyone who purchased a yearbook this year. Also, a HUGE thank you goes out to all of the businesses and individuals who purchase an ad in our book! You support is greatly appreciated! Shout out to the very talented Davis Gamble, our yearbook rep, for all of his incredible help along our journey. Thank you to all of the teachers and staff here at Burton ISD who support our program. We could not do it without you!
On the state level, not only have we continued to get an Award of Distinguished Merit in UIL ILPC over the last several years, but we have also received the Bronze Star Award for the last three years, which, besides gold and silver, is the highest honor a yearbook can achieve through UIL ILPC. These awards recognize top-performing student yearbooks in Texas, representing the top 10 percent of publications in the state.
On the national level, we have won consecutive (for probably 10+ years) Gallery of Excellence Awards through Walsworth Publishing. The Walsworth Gallery of Excellence Award is given to a small percentage (5%) of yearbooks published by Walsworth, recognizing exceptional quality in design, photography, coverage, and theme. It's a prestigious award that showcases the best yearbooks at the national level. We have also been published in several of Walsworth Possibilities books, which are distributed nationally. This book is published every two years. Our 2023 publication was featured in the theme section, which is a significant accomplishment for a yearbook program. Our books get distributed across the United States as top-tier examples.
Burton Yearbook has set a standard for K-12 publications. I can not wait to see what our staff creates for the 2026 publication.
