Research Instruction for Your Students

I offer instruction sessions to help your students do the research required for their assignments and take full advantage of the resources available to them as Burrell High School students.  All lessons are tailored according to the individual class needs, but examples of typical topics covered are as follows:

Instruction sessions are held in the Library, Library Classroom, or classrooms.  This process works most effectively when the students have a specific assignment that they need to do research for, and I have a copy of that assignment ahead of time.  To schedule a session, please contact Mrs. Aranyos

Inter-library Loan

Although we have a small physical library, I can obtain nearly anything for you because of our vast inter-library loan network, SHAREit.  Please see me for more information.

Class Reserves

You can put materials on reserve for your students in the library.  A cart of books and other resources can also be used in your classroom.  Contact Megan Aranyos at maranyos@burrell.k12.pa.us or log into the Follett Destiny system and place materials on hold directly.

Professional Recognition

Publish something recently?  Win an award?  Let me know!  I can exhibit and promote your work in the library to celebrate your achievements.

Faculty Book Exchange

The Faculty Book Exchange is a constantly evolving library where visitors are encouraged to take a book from the collection in exchange for leaving one of their own.  Take any book in the faculty room across from the library, as long as you leave another in its place.  Take two books, leave two books, and so on.  The books you swap are yours to keep for a day, a week, or a lifetime.  Or you can read them and bring them back for someone else to enjoy.

AI

The evolution of Artificial Intelligence is an emergent technology, and students must not commit academic dishonesty by portraying AI derived research writing as their own work.  Please visit the AI content detectors below or consult with Megan Aranyos: maranyos@burrell.k12.pa.us

FAQ

Can we stream movies in our classrooms?

The Terms of Use for streaming services are for personal use only - not for public performance showing. When you sign up for a personal account - those are the terms you agree to.  Educational Fair Use does not come into it at all. A classroom would be considered a public viewing event. See below.

There are some Netflix Educational Documentaries that allow for a one time use - but only those that expressly are allowed from Netflix. Even a DVD of some movies still needs a Movie Licensing Agreement by a company like Movie Licensing USA depending on whether it is individual classroom face to face teaching that is part of the curriculum and not for entertainment.

4.2. The Netflix service and any content accessed through our service are for your personal and non-commercial use only and may not be shared with individuals beyond your household unless otherwise allowed by your subscription plan. During your Netflix membership, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access the Netflix service and Netflix content through the service. Except for the foregoing, no right, title or interest shall be transferred to you. You agree not to use the service for public performances.
