At Burnside we follow the OCR GCSE Business 9-1 course. Students learn about the following topics, which are assessed by 2 exams at the end of Year 11:
Business activity: enterprise and entrepreneurship; planning; ownership; aims and objectives; stakeholders and growth
Marketing: market research; market segmentation; the marketing mix
Human resources: communication; recruitment; motivation and retention; training and development; employment law
Operations: production processes; quality of goods and services; sales and customer service; consumer law; business location and working with suppliers
Finance: sources of finance; revenue, costs, profit and loss; break-even; cash and cash flow
Influences on business: ethical and environmental considerations; the economic climate; globalisation
