While we have many policies (and you can read them below), EnviroTech can be surmised in our manifeasto:
EnviroTech situates itself in the centre, or moderate left side of the political spectrum, this can be seen by our Capital Gains tax which we wish to impose if elected in hopes of helping first home buyers, and closing the gap between them and the most seasoned of property investors. On a rather broader scale we generally, and obviously, prioritise the environment, yet we aim to do this without heavy restrictions and taxes, yet we recognise their purpose and even utilise certain taxes, we believe they should be used in moderation as we've found alternation methods of revenue. One such method is investment, and while it is an expense in the short term, it can quickly turn into a revenue and source of income with the right decision making skills. This can be investing in shares for example, and can even be on a large scale, such as in green energy projects like wind or solar farms (for this year's policies we have an investment like this).
To form your own opinions on who we are and what we stand for, we strongly suggest you listen to our leader's speech in the 'Why EnviroTech' tab and read the policies below.
Here are some of our notable policies:
We want to be able to encourage private businesses to innovate by investing money in the businesses which apply to our specific Terms and Conditions*. We will have a set amount of $2.5 billion to do this per annum. For our investment these businesses should preferably instill in us a confidence that they have some affiliation with a renewable energy source, mainly ones that manufacture, distribute, or research into them and that they’re actually profitable. Naturally this won’t solely go to businesses, but also a large proportion to research and development in technologies we define as “green.”
*Terms and Conditions (The Government shall choose the business based on the following criteria): They relate in some way to the environment and it’s well being, this can be through research, production, or innovation.
Increase funding to DOC and TBfree specifically so they can increase spending on the research for biodegradable 1080 poison alternatives. While we agree that 1080 may be our best option at the moment in the elimination of pests in our country, we believe we can do better with the end result of a more efficient method, as 1080 is known to cause a prolonged death. Currently they spend over two million dollars per annum, we want to encourage them to raise it to at least five.
We will apply a reasonable progressive tax on New Zealanders, a reason we need taxing is because of the large amounts of money being poured into New Zealanders compared with other parties. Our tax brackets will be: $0-$14,000 - 7% $14,001-48,000 - 15% $48,001-$70,000-25% - $70,001-$100,000-30% 100,000+-35%
We want to consent and partially fund a new wind farm in New Zealand for a share in its profits. We expect it to cost about half a billion dollars for the whole farm, as one of New Zealand’s more efficient farms cost four hundred and forty million dollars. Depending on our partner, we should only have to pay a fraction of this cost.
We want to avoid New Zealand military presence in Afghanistan. As much as we feel we need to defend our allies in this situation, we don’t believe that sending more soldiers in will help the situation. With the already lengthy 16 years the war has been going, who knows when it will end. We also don’t want to ruin New Zealand’s record of being a peaceful nation, and sending more troops into war will likely cause this reputation to be lost.
We wish to protect New Zealand’s sovereign rights by opposing the TPPA (Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement). We believe that enabling TPPA in New Zealand would adversely affect the ability to find jobs in New Zealand with an estimate of 5,000 jobs lost, which ultimately would cause a large income inequality.
For housing, our party would look at supporting businesses which can offer efficient building methods to be able to meet demand for new homes, thus, bringing the cost of homes down to meet requirements for new home buyers.
Our party wants to invest in providing access to market-leading diagnostic equipment so that people can be diagnosed and treated at a much earlier stage for less cost.
Our party is committed to providing schools with more funding in order to provide a better experience for the learner, we wish to invest strongly in the school’s ability to provide the student with adequate technology such as computers to lead a practical 21st century education.
Capital gains tax. A capital gains tax will see anyone with 3 or more properties getting taxed on their capital gain at these rates. 3-4 properties 10% 4+ 20%.
Our party wants to give a set amount of $80 per fortnight for people working, this will end at the age of 70, giving everyone $104285.6 at retirement age.
We would like to modify the Marine and Coastal Area Act 2011 in regards to the customary marine title, which hāpu (a group in a Māori tribe) or iwi (a Māori tribe) can apply for. The title gives many different benefits, one being the possession of resources in the owned sea area, barring four resources being gold, silver, uranium, and petroleum. We wish the title to include these resources under the following conditions:
We will provide $3 million of funding to schools and communities to encourage them to educate their children in both how to prevent and deal with depression. We believe this will help decrease suicide rates in NZ in the future.
