I've worked in the public transit industry since 2007. The majority of my experience is related to Finance. While in the industry, I've made an effort to learn about capital asset management, inventory, maintenance and operations, and other items outside of the normal finance role. My public transit career began as a FullCharge Bookkeeper, moving to Assistant Controller, then progressing to Controller/Manager of Administration. In 2021, transitioned into a new role with ERP software specifically designed for public transit. This gave me the opportunity to learn how agencies can do the setup and process differently, but get the same results in the end. And that's what inspired me to go into consulting. I love accounting, and even more, I love public transit accounting.
Coming from a small urban agency, I had several roles and responsibilities. I served as the CFO, the DBE Liaison, and the EEO Officer. I was responsible for the Financial Reporting to Federal, State, and Local agencies; Grants Management for both Federal and State grants for operating and capital; overseeing Payroll processing, withholding taxes, withholding deductions, and employer tax quarterly and annual reporting; overseeing HR and enforcement of the CBA; overseeing purchasing and project management; creating and implementing the Tier II TAM Plan; leading annual financial audits; and leading multiple Comprehensive Reviews (Triennial Review).
My educational background includes earning my Master of Leadership Development, focus in Financial Leadership, in just twelve months in 2014 while working full-time. In 2009, earning my Bachelor of Science, Accounting, also while working full-time.
