The Music of Film, Television and Video Games

Professional Statement from Mr. Olsen : 

Dear Parents/Guardians - 

Throughout the course the students will be studying Music from Film, Television, and Video Games.  

The list of board approved films and video games are listed below for your reference. 

Part of the course will require students to view short video clips, to place into context, the music they are studying.  However, no film clips will be shown from Films rated higher than Pg-13.  In the event of such a film, for example: Gladiator, which is rated R.  Only the Music/Score will be listened to.  Students will analyze several film scores in their entirety but will break up their viewing with class discussions, reflections and other assignments.  

This will also be applied to Television & Video Game Music - Game content rated above Teen, will not be shown, instead any game rated above Teen, the music/score will be listened to.  

Music from television shows - will focus on: Game Shows, Commercials, and TV Series Themes, Telenovela's and Soap Operas. 

Students will also be independently researching Composers, Major Works, and Video Game Scores and creating a Score For Life final project at the end of the semester.
