Work-Based Learning (WBL), previously known as structured learning experiences, integrate academic, technical, and employability skills through practical work experiences.
Work-Based Learning bridges the gap from the classroom to the workforce!
These structured learning experiences are designed to enhance our student’s readiness for both college and careers, focusing on:
Career Awareness - Introduction to various career paths and industries.
Career Preparation - Skills development necessary for entering the workforce.
Career Exploration - Hands-on experience to explore different professions.
Career Training - Practical training aligned with specific career paths.
There are a variety of WBL experiences! Some are seamlessly integrated into our curriculum as essential components of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Additionally, students have the option to pursue approved experiences such as:
Internships - Paid or unpaid opportunities designed for career preparation; Minimum age requirement is 16 years old.
Job Shadowing - Observational experiences in real workplaces, open to students of all ages.
Cooperative Education Experiences (Previously known as School-to-Work) - Paid work experiences aligned to the student’s CTE program. Students split their time between academic coursework at school and working.
