Class overview
During your course of study in this program, you’ll get a hands-on look at how products move around the world and what careers are available to you. You will learn about the various career opportunities in the logistics industry. You’ll explore jobs like logistics planner, warehouse manager, and global business coordinator, and see how they help make sure the right products get to the right place at the right time.
We will be using material handling equipment that is normally found in a warehouse and retail store setting, so you’ll get to practice with real-world tools instead of just reading about them. We will also be completing fun, project-based learning modules where you step into the role of a logistics planner or manager for a major company and solve real-life style problems.
We also take several field trips during the school year to airports, ports, distribution centers, and local businesses, which will deepen your knowledge about our growing field and let you see these careers in action. These trips can also help you make connections that might lead to internships, job shadows, or other career opportunities after high school.
Learn to drive a forklift in a mock warehouse! For grades 9-11, students will be learning how to drive and operate various powered lift equipment using state of the art VR Technology, provided by our partners at Raymond Arbor Material Handling, Inc. and SimLog! Before they graduate, all students can earn their live forklift certification by a certified forklift trainer.
