HVAC 2 students have shown a tremendous amount of enthusiasm while learning about refrigerant and the refrigeration cycle. Projects have included refrigerant recovery, copper brazing, system charging, dehydration techniques, instructional videos demonstrating the use of manifold gauges, and now replacing residential split systems.
HVAC 3 and 4 Juniors and Seniors have been learning to build duct work using the various techniques and tools.
Freshmen and Sophomores exploring a career in HVAC learned how to measure, cut, flare, swage, and braze copper pipe. These are essential skills needed in HVAC. They also learned about many other techniques and terms and hopefully had some fun!
Each month a student from each block will be awarded with the Monthly Golden Tool Box Award based on their daily performance, citizenship, grades, and class contributions. At the end of the year 1 award winner will be selected at random to receive a gift card that can be used towards the beginnings of their own set of HVAC tools.

In the past couple of years, the small appliance industry has switched to more environmentally friendly refrigerants due to EPA policies. What does this mean for you? Not much, but I highly recommend reading the paperwork that comes with your appliance. What do they recommend for cleaning, maintenance, and what to do if you suspect any problems. Like G.I.Joe says, "Knowing is half the battle"
