Grading Policy

  • It is my policy to provide parents with email/notes on Skyward, at the end of every week, to let you know what we did in class, when assignments are due, and to push out weekly Progress Reports, so that you will have the opportunity to know how your students is doing in my class on a weekly basis. I try to keep my classroom as transparent as possible, to help you all!

  • I assign a zero to all missing grades. I do this to help my students notice and get their missing work turned in quickly, and/or to provide parents an update so that you can ask your student about missing work. Once the work has been turned in, by the proper time, I will replace the zero with their grade.

  • New school policy states that all 8th graders have three days, to get their work in or it will be a zero which can not be changed. Each day that an assignment is late will be a deduction of 5 points from the final grade. All work that I have assigned is due either by Progress Report or the Six Weeks final grade. After the due date I give, grades will stay and they will not be able to turn in work after the due date given before Progress Report or Report Card. All students have DAILY REMINDERS from me and weekly reminders in the Parent notes I send out.

  • Only students making a 69 or BELOW may re-challenge a test, as long as they have completed extra practice work. If they do not do the practice work, they may NOT re-challenge the test and the grade stays. IF A STUDENT RECHALLENGES A TEST, THE HIGHEST GRADE THEY CAN MAKE IS A 70.

  • Students only have one week, after the test, to do the practice work and re-challenge. After the one week has passed, grades stay. Just note that even though a student may be re-challenging a test, we have moved passed that subject and are adding to or going over a new unit with new information.

  • ALL DAILY GRADES may be corrected and turned in for full credit.

  • Cheating is NEVER tolerated in my class. If this offense happens, the student will receive a zero for the assignment with NO opportunity to make this up. The zero will stand. A parental contact will always follow this, and if it happens a second time, an office referral will be given.
