CLASSROOM RULES:
Work hard. There is no legitimate excuse for giving anything but your best in your work for this class.
Be kind. The “Golden Rule”: Treat others the way you wish to be treated.
Cell Phones/Headphones/Earbuds. Cellphones can be taken out after class. Do not take out your headphones or earbuds during class.
Chromebook. Follow school district policy and bring to class everyday charged and ready to use.
OTHER PROCEDURES & EXPECTATIONS:
Starting class: Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
Tardies: Be punctual. Be in the room when the tardy bell rings.
Late work: If you are late in turning in an assignment, you have failed in your duties as a student. Assignments can be accepted late with a 10 point reduction per day. After 3 days, the assignment will not exceed a maximum score of 60 if turned in. Submitting work after class on the due date is a 5 point reduction. Some assignments will not be accepted late if the answers to the assignment have been discussed in class.
Hall passes: None will be given the first or last 10 minutes of class.
Absences: If you miss a class, check with me for any handouts/assignments you may have missed and make sure you check in with me BEFORE or AFTER class to find out anything else you might have missed. You have the same number of days as you were absent to complete assignments. However, if the work was assigned before you were absent it is due the day you return.
Grades: Grades fall into two basic categories:
Major Grades: These grades make up 60% of your 6-week average. Major grades include tests, major essays, etc.
Daily Grades: These grades make up 40% of your 6-week average. Daily grades include study guides and any other work not considered a major grade.
Class grades will be posted on Skyward quickly after an assignment has been graded. It is YOUR responsibility to keep up with your grade and to check with me if you believe there is a discrepancy. Questions about grades need to be asked before class, or after class.
6. Extra Credit/Re-tests: There will not be any extra credit opportunities in this class. If you fail a test, you may re-test during Success to try and raise your test grade to a 70.
7. Skyward and Grade Check: Students and parents, please check Skyward often to monitor the class grade.
8. Academic Dishonesty: Cheating is taken very seriously and any infraction may result in a zero and office referral. For more information, you may refer to the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.
9. Gifted/Talented Students: Please see me for differentiation options for our major projects.
