Class Norms:
Allow others in the room personal space.
Do not under any circumstances steal or vandalize any artwork or art supplies.
Respect the work of others. Do not “jokingly” or maliciously alter, destroy, or mess with another person’s artwork.
Clean up after yourself. Art Materials and supplies are expensive. We need to maintain them to ensure they last. Failure to respect the materials and supplies will result in a loss of privileges to work with some materials.
Have your charged and working Chromebook (with charging cord) in class, every day.

No Phones in the classroom. It is the law. If I see your phone, it goes to the office. If you won’t give up your phone, you and your phone go to the office. Follow the district policies.

Items Graded in Class:
Daily work:
Weekly Art History quizzes, warm ups, and (starting in October) Check Ins will be combined into one grade. Art History is worth 50% of the grade, warm ups are worth 25%, and the weekly check in (beginning 10/3) is worth the remaining 25% of the grade.
Notebook checks:
Notebook checks consist of checking student practice skill sheets and drafts that they are allotted class time to complete.
Art projects:
Art project grades are based on the rubric below. If a student has a google classroom assignment that is considered part of their project grade, they will be notified and it will be on the google classroom assignment with the amount of points that it is worth as well. Those points would count toward a portion of the assignment objective section of the rubric.
Absent Work:
Students are expected to make up their missing work in a timely manner. Students who are absent should visit with the teacher during independent work time, not between classes/the start of class, to see what they have missed. Students may need to spend time outside of class to make up missing work. If a student has excessive absences, they may receive an alternative assignment or will be graded based on their effort while in class for major projects.
Google Classroom Norms:
Weekly assignments will be given Friday due dates on Google Classroom, but students may be expected to turn shorter assignments in earlier in the week. Students should not turn in Google classroom assignments blank unless given special permission.
Late Work:
Late work is defined as assignments that are turned in past the due date without the student being absent from class. Students can receive full credit for late work, but late work must be turned in a week before grades are due unless the student was absent during work time for the assignment. Additionally, students must send an email to grace.weaver@burkburnettisd.org with a description of what assignments they turned in and their class period.
Homework:
In general, students are given plenty of class time to complete their work. If a student frequently has homework, they may not be spending their class time wisely.
