US History Syllabus
Rules and Expectations EVERYDAY!
Be polite and respectful to those in the classroom whether it is another student, a substitute, myself, or any guest in the classroom.
Never bring food or drink into class other than water. No exceptions. If I see it out, you will be instructed to put it up or throw it away.
While I am talking, be attentive to me, not the people around you.
Be prepared for class everyday, that means complete your assignments on time.

We will create a classroom constitution modeled after the US Constitution on the second week of school that will have more class specific rules.

Grading and Late Work Policy
We will be using the BHS grading and late work policy which is:
60% Major Grades (projects/assessments)
40% Minor Grades (homework/quizzes)
At least 2 Major Grades and at least 4 Minor Grades per 6-weeks
After 3 days past the due date, late work will not be accepted
Overview of the Daily Classroom
Almost everyday I will lecture for 20-30 minutes, the remainder of class will be used to complete the assignments that go with the lecture. If assignments are not completed in class, they will be expected to be completed for homework, however, I do not typically make those due until the end of the week. This year I will be requiring note taking on all lectures using skeleton notes, these notes will be taken up at the end of the 6-weeks for a major grade.
There will also be multiple Fridays that students will lead the lectures off of their own individual research. These may be in groups or individual and will be taken for grades. Students will receive multiple weeks of notice for when it is their assigned Friday.
We will have multiple projects throughout the year, some partner, some individual. For any project, you are expected to get the project done on time with in depth work. If you finish the project early, I will most likely tell you it is not in depth enough. Anytime you work with another student, respect is expected!
