Varsity Choir

Varsity Choir is our competition choir. We compete at UIL in the spring and there are additional individual competition opportunities such as TMEA All State auditions and UIL Solo & Ensemble throughout the year.

Auditions for this performing group are every Spring. Look out for more information following Spring Break!

TMEA Auditions

The TMEA process is what you need to participate in if you are interested in being a part of the Texas All State Choir.

Audition Materials and conductor notes are available at www.tmea.org

Details and a list of dates will be given in class.

After School rehearsals and success time will be made available and are HIGHLY suggested.

Solo and Ensemble

S&E is an individual based UIL competition.

Details given in class. Handouts with date and place given in advance. Please check your schedule before singing up.

Solos must be from the UIL PML approved selections and must be a Grade 1 to qualify for State S&E contest.

Vocalists must have music memorized when performing.

Separate accompanist fees apply.

CoNcert & Sight Reading

C&SR is a group based UIL competition.

Concert Season is in the Spring, details given in class and reminders sent home.

The Choir must perform selections from the UIL PML approved list for three judges on the concert stage as STEP 1. The majority score will be counted.

The Choir must also sing from sight a piece they have not read prior to contest for three more judges in another performance area as STEP 2. This music is created each year for competition by a composer and approved by UIL to be used . The majority score will be counted and critiqued.

Division 1, SUPERIOR is the highest accolade you can receive and if you get a Division 1 in both areas you earn a SWEEPSTAKES.
