• I have a student iPad that will speak inaudibly when you tap on it and will place a box around items on the screen seemingly preventing me from selecting things, how can I fix this?

The first thing you should check is to see if VoiceOver has been accidentally turned on. To access VoiceOver open your Settings application, select General, then Accessibility. The first option in the list of accessibility options is VoiceOver and should be turned off. Accessibility options are designed to make the iPad more accessible for people with special needs. Some examples of options include increasing the default text size, connecting to hearing aids, and adding subtitles to media.

• A student iPad is having trouble taking a charge, what should I do?

There are several things you can do to solve this problem. First, check to make sure the student knows how to close out an application when they are done to prevent the battery from draining. Double tap the home button and swipe up on any applications which are open. The second thing you can do is to remove the iPad from it's case and then replace it ensuring there isn't a part of the case continually depressing a button. It would be a good idea to check the iPad when it's out of the case for any obvious signs of damage. Thirdly, check the cord and charger used by the student to make sure it is a genuine apple product. Off brand cords and charges can damage the iPad and also take much longer to charge the device. You should also make sure the charger is an appropriate size for the device as an inappropriately sized brick will make the charging process longer.

• What should I do if I can't access educational websites such as think through math from a student iPad?

Sometimes the lightspeed rocket on a student iPad needs to be manually verified and as a result content could potentially be blocked. To verify the lightspeed rocket open Safari and enter the following address, "lsrocket.burkburnettisd.org/lsaccess/proxycert" . If you notice a sign in red that says Not Verified, then select install. Enter the passcode to unlock the device, select install again x 2, and you should receive confirmation that the profile was installed correctly. Occasionally you may also need to manually trust the lightspeed rocket certificate after it is installed. To do this go to Settings-General-About-Certificate Trust Settings then choose to enable full trust for the root certificate.

• When my students try to connect to a ClassFlow session or open an assignment I've assigned in Pearson Realize a spinning wheel appears and the content won't load, what can I do to solve this problem?

Open Safari and select the icon that looks like a pair of rectangles. Ensure that there is not a highlighted box surrounding the word Private. Remove the iPad from private browsing mode if it is and the content should now come through.

• Is there a way I can avoid connecting my credit card information or bank account to my Apple ID?

Yes there is. When creating the Apple ID for the first time, begin by visiting the app store and selecting an app that is free. Choose the option to create an Apple ID and when you get to the screen that asks for billing information you will now be able to choose "none". Ensure that this option is selected. Another idea to keep your account information safe is to set up your Apple ID using a prepaid iTunes gift card.

• But what if I want to make some purchases?

Consider setting up your Apple ID with a prepaid iTunes gift card instead of using your bank account.

• The date and time is off on the iPad.

• When my students switch classes the wifi connection seems to be interrupted?

The iPads require wireless internet access which is facilitated through arrays located on the ceiling. Teach your students to disconnect from the wifi and reconnect when they first come to their new class to avoid the disruption of a device failing to connect with the array in the previous room.
