Green Thumb Challenge

What does it mean to have a "green thumb?"

This phrase means you have a special skill to make plants grow well.

The Challenge: Plant and care for your seed. Observe and document its growth.


Materials

  • Growing medium pellet

  • Flower pot

  • 12 inch/ 30 cm ruler

  • Plant Observation Journal

  • Large bowl

  • Fork

  • Water

Directions

  1. Follow Buzzyseeds' step-by-step instructions for preparing the growing medium and planting the seeds.

  2. Observe the seed for 30 days. Document its growth by sketching, measuring, and recording notes on the Plant Observation Journal.

Students who submit their Plant Observation Journal by May 21 will be entered to win a "Plant a Pizza Garden: Vegetable & Herb Starter Kit. "

One winner will be selected from each grade level.
