Internet Safety, also known as Digital Citizenship, refers to the responsible use of technology by anyone who uses computers, the Internet, and digital devices to engage with society on any level. When your student is logged into a device using their BCPS account, they are searching with the preset district filters; however, even with district filtering, parental supervision, and setting up parental controls on your home computer, it can still be difficult to keep your kids completely safe online. That's why it is still important to partner with BCPS teachers and schools to teach your child about digital citizenship from the moment they begin using computers, the internet, and digital devices. To keep your kids safe, we need to teach them to make good decisions online—even when you're not around.
