This will be my 14th year teaching at Roby and I too was a Roby student. I graduated from the University of Louisville with both a bachelors and masters degree in Elementary Education. I am currently working on my Rank 1 in Special Education. I have taught 5th grade, 3rd grade and special education. I am Roby's Chess coach and Yearbook sponsor. I am a proud momma to a sweet little girl, Parker Reese. I love spending time with my family and friends. I can't wait to meet all of my new Roby kiddos!

Mrs. Dawn Smith

I am going into my 12th year of teaching. I started off working with high school students, and switched to elementary in my sixth year of teaching. I love working with the littles because they make me smile and laugh daily. I have a Bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan, a Masters in Special Education, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Georgetown College. I like to think I have a positive influence on my students that encourages them to go out and become whatever they dream of being. I will be celebrating thirty years of marriage in December, and I love doing exciting things with my spouse, like riding our motorcycle. I have two children, a son and daughter. I am very excited that I will be a grandmother this fall. My goal this year and every year is to support your child as I would want my children, and grandchildren to be supported in all areas of life from academics to emotional growth.

I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade again this year! I greatly enjoy working with older students. There is so much growth to see in 5th graders as they transition from elementary school to middle school. This is a very special year for them and I am happy to be a part of it. Outside of school I am a wife and mother. I treasure the time I have with my family. I have an 11th grader, a 9th grader, and a 4 year old. They keep me very busy but I love every minute of it. My goal for this year is to support your student as they grow personally and academically. Please feel free to stay in contact with me as we work together in this endeavor.

Ms. Hardin has been teaching for 12 years, the last 7 years at Roby. She teaches Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Louisville.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Kirk spent his career in the publishing/media industry overseeing newspapers, magazines and websites in several states across the USA, In 2018, Mr. Kirk left the industry and became certified in the teaching industry specializing in students with moderate/severe disabilities. In 2020, Mr. Kirk and his wife (an elementary school teacher) moved to Shepherdsville to be close to their daughter and 3 of their 4 grandchildren. Mr. Kirk became the Designated Guest Teacher at Roby Elementary, and subsequently became certified as a teacher in Kentucky. Mr Kirk joined the certified staff at Roby this year as the EBD Teacher (Emotional/Behavior Disorder). Mr. Kirk and his wife have 3 daughters, Ashley (high school teacher), Lindsey (nurse), and Kelsey (first grade teacher), and have been married going on 34 years! Mr. Kirk lives in Shepherdsville with his wife and their dog Yuba!
