What is the advisory council?
The FRYSC program is built upon the foundation of collaboration. A guiding principle in the development of the FRYSC program is to be community, school, family, and student focused – we are to collaborate with other entities in order to more effectively serve the needs of our students and their families. Our YSC is to be a “broker of services” – connecting students and their families with the resources they need to be successful. It is not the sole purpose of our YSC to develop a spirit of providing direct-services, but to enhance students’ abilities to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote: Early learning and successful transition to school, academic achievement and well-being, and graduation and transition into adult life.
Our Youth Service Center and its Advisory Council is the key to assuring that collaborative community input and involvement occurs in the planning, implementation and oversight of the Center’s activities. The North Bullitt High School YSC Advisory Council helps the coordinator, Ms. Hardin, to accomplish its mission:
The Council…
Is made up of parents, community members, students, and school staff. These individuals provide guidance in decisions concerning the center.
Provides a broad base of support
Creates two-way communication between the Coordinator and the community
Enables the Coordinator to evaluate ongoing programs
Makes the YSC community–centered rather than coordinator or school-centered
Aids in planning and implementing programs
Keeps our families, students, staff, and community informed
Uncovers potential problems within the community
Unites the community behind a project
Stimulates organizations to serve people more efficiently
Please join the North Bullitt High School YSC Advisory Council Meeting in future meetings. The Advisory Council meets every other month for approximately an hour.
