Classwork/Homework

  • Most work will be done in class.

    • There are times students need extra time to complete the required work, thus homework.

  • Two ways to turn in work: In-Person & Digital Turn-In

  • ISNs (Interactive Student Notebooks) & other classwork will be given to students at the beginning of each chapter - posted to Google Classroom/Drive.

    • Notes given in class are expected to be written in student notebooks, which will be checked periodically for a grade. Any score less than 100% reflects partially completed notes.

    • It is the student’s responsibility to complete the work in class as we cover the material and turn it in at the end of the unit of study before the chapter assessment.

  • Failure to do so will result in detention until the work is complete.

Plagiarism/Cheating

  • In today’s world of globalization plagiarism has become much too commonplace in schools. Plagiarism is defined as:

“the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work; a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own work; the act of plagiarizing; taking someone's words or ideas as if they were your own.” (www.dictionary.com)

  • In short, each student should do their own work.

  • Instances of plagiarism/cheating will earn a student-teacher conference, call home, office referral, and a zero for the assignment which cannot be made-up.

Any student caught cheating/plagiarizing will receive a zero for that assignment and redo it for zero credit during detention.

Missed & Incomplete Work

  • It is the responsibility of the student to get & complete any missed work.

    • Notes and handouts are available on the class website.

    • All make-up work must be completed in a timely manner as set forth in the Student Handbook.

  • Handouts are shared on my Google Drive or Google Classroom site (see Teacher Web page).

  • All late work must be submitted via my Turn In Form.

    • Multi-page written assignments should be submitted in a single Google Document.

    • Screenshots should be legible, clear, properly oriented (top side up) & in sequential order (first at the top & last at the bottom).

  • Submission of Blank Documents will receive a zero.

  • No late work will be accepted after the end of the final day of a grading period.

Due Dates & Late Assignments

  • Due dates will be announced ahead of time in class and on Google Classroom.

  • If an assignment’s due date coincides with a planned absence event the student should turn in said assignment BEFORE leaving.

  • Late assignments may incur a late penalty.

  • Click for a link to our Class Schedule.

Redoing & Repairing Assignments

Redos/Retakes:

  • Most assignments and quizzes will be eligible for redos.

  • If a student wishes to redo/retake an assignment they must present evidence of remediation:

    • Re-writing ISN/notes/definitions, etc.

    • Re-reading text/assignments, etc.

    • Study log (signed by student & parent/guardian) detailing start/end times and content studied.

  • Full credit is gained and the highest score will be recorded in Infinite Campus with a +# added to comments to indicate the number of points acquired via redo.

Test Repair:

  • Exams are eligible for repairs.

  • Students must present evidence of remediation (as described above).

  • Credit earned will be at one-half credit for complete repairs.

  • Students must provide the following for each item missed:

    • Number of Question Missed

    • Student’s Incorrect Answer

    • The Correct Answer

    • Rationale with a Direct Quote from the text that explains why the correct answer is correct.

    • A Citation (page and paragraph number) where the answer was found in the text.

  • Incomplete test repairs will receive no credit and must be redone/re-remediated for credit.

Positive Points

  • In congruence with Canterian Assertive Discipline methodology and PBIS, each class will have multiple opportunities daily to earn Positive Points.

  • Once a class reaches 50 points they will receive a reward.

  • Points can be obtained when the entire class: is on task, comes to class prepared, achieves 100% attendance, turns in homework, participates in class discussion, etc.

Bonus Points

  • For consideration of bonus credit, ALL regular credit assignments must be completed.
