Teacher

Mrs. Kim Schraut

I am so excited to be here!!! This school year I am embarking on my 15th year of teaching math in the classroom and my 5th year in Discovery School.

I have taught all math grade levels; 6th, 7th, 8th, Algebra 1 and Geometry. Educating students is my passion, although they often teach me far more than I could possibly teach them:)

I am so very excited to build an incredible learning experience with each and every student this school year!!

A Little Bit About Me

I am blessed with a wonderful husband, Donnie with whom I have been married for over 14 years. We are raising 2 children, Isaiah (11), and Alivia (6). Our family is an incredible blend of experiences, the oldest (Lauren) is my stepdaughter, and our two youngest blessed our family through adoption. As a family we enjoy spending time outside, reading, having small gatherings with our closest friends, playing games, and swimming. Lauren is embarking on her career journey as an Occupational Therapist, Isaiah will start his last year of elementary school and Alivia will be a first-grade student this year.

Lauren has always been involved in sports, she especially loves basketball and field hockey.

Isaiah Is very active at school, he enjoys auditioning for roles In plays and performances, he will begin band this coming year, and he plans to continue on with the academic team. Outside of school he plays soccer, loves video games, and has several buddies with which likes to spend his free time. He loves to build and create things, mainly with Legos, but anything structural is his passion.

Alivia is full of energy, loves dancing and music, she loves animals, her friends, art, and her teachers at school. She enjoys playing soccer and has recently shown a greater interest in both basketball and gymnastics. She keeps us on our toes and loves making new friends.

My husband and I both enjoy the challenge of running. We are often found training for a half marathon, this year we we hope to complete at least one half marathon, since COVID 19 has shut down most in person races. I often talk to students about my running adventures. I do this for two distinct reasons:

1.) to encourage them to remain active with their physical body

2.) to set a personal goal, work hard to achieve the goal

3.) to experience and embrace the obstacles and challenges that come with the goal we wish to achieve

My husband and I are also avid U of L fans, and we enjoy attending sporting events to support our team-GO CARDS!! As a family we also enjoy supporting local charitable organizations, spending time with our close friends, and of course, spending time with our children and extended family.
