  1. LUNCH/ BREAKFAST INFORMATION

  • Use myschoolbucks.com to make deposits on meal accounts, check balances, and monitor purchases.

  • You may contact Chelsie Floyd (chelsie.floyd@bullitt.kyschools.us) with any questions concerning our cafeteria.

  1. ATTENDANCE

  • We need you at school every day; however, we know there will be times when absences are necessary.

  • Have an adult call 869-5007 and leave a message stating the reason for your absence.

  • Check your team/teachers website for an update on what you are missing and what you need to do to be prepared when you return (i.e. homework).

  • Be sure to turn a note in to the office when you return. BCPS policy requires excuse notes to be submitted even if you call the school and notify us of the absence or sign your child in or out during the school day.

  • EXCUSE NOTES WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED WITHIN 5 DAYS OF YOUR ABSENCE. After five days your absence will be considered unexcused. Parents will be notified by school administration once their parent note limit has been reached.

  • 3 unexcused absences will result in letter notification from the assistant principal and a student meeting.

  • Students are limited to 6 parent excuse notes per year. After 6 parent notes have been submitted students must have a note from a physician in order for the absence to be excused. Parents will be notified when the limit is reached.

  • 6 unexcused absences will result in letter notification from the assistant principal and a parent meeting.

  • 6 plus unexcused absences may result in a truancy court filing.

  • Students are limited to 10 doctor’s notes per year. Parents will be notified when the 10 note limit is reached.

  • You do not need an adult to sign you in if you are tardy. However, you must have a pre-approved adult with valid identification to sign you out.

    • 3 unexcused tardies will result in letter notification.

    • 5 unexcused tardies will result in a meeting with the administration.

    • 6 plus unexcused tardies will result in a parent conference and a possible lunch detention for every day you are tardy.

  1. BULLY PREVENTION

If you are having issues with another student, please let an adult know immediately. You may also complete a “see the counselor form” and turn the form in to the front office or your teacher. You may email any of our administrators as well. Once an issue has been reported, students will work with our school counselor through conflict resolution and be provided expectations for future interaction. If the issue is not resolved, students will meet with an administrator and a “no contact” contract will be enforced. Further instances will result in students being separated/ removed from the setting.

  1. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I or SOMEONE ELSE HAS SOMETHING THAT IS NOT ALLOWED?

LET AN ADULT KNOW RIGHT AWAY! If you have any type of medication, a pocket knife that you used over the weekend and forgot it was in your pocket, or a cell phone you forgot to put in your locker, inform an adult as soon as possible. You will NOT get in trouble for bringing us the item; however, if we hear about it or find it before you tell an adult, we can only assume that you CHOSE to hide it from us.

  1. COMMUNICATION

The easiest way to communicate with any staff member is to go to the Eastside website and then click on the name of the person you want to email. You may also call 869-5000 and the secretary will e-mail that person with your message.

  1. HALL PASSES

It is important that teachers and staff know your location at all times. Students should use this agenda as their hall pass. Whenever traveling from one place to another in the building, students should carry this agenda with the destination, departure time, and teacher signature. Failure to present the previous items when moving throughout the building outside of regular scheduled hall changes will result in disciplinary action. Students should make sure they only go to the approved location. For example, students who have permission to go to the library should not visit the front office or restroom on their way to or from the library.

  1. COUNSELING SERVICES

School counseling is a process of helping students to make decisions and change behaviors. Assistance is available for students dealing with developmental and situational type problems by teaching coping strategies, educating them about the situation, and providing emotional support. If you would like to speak with the counselor, you may ask an adult, ask the counselor, or complete a “See the Counselor” form located outside the counselor’s office. You may also complete the "See the Counselor" online form.

  1. VANDALISM

Any student found to have caused damage to school property will pay for the repair or replacement for that damage. If you see anyone damaging school property, report the individual to a teacher immediately.

  1. VISITORS

ALL VISITORS, including parents, are required to sign in at the school office immediately upon entering the school. Visitors should not go into a classroom area unless a visit has been scheduled with the teacher.

  1. CHEATING

It is important for students to demonstrate their knowledge during all assessments and activities. Students should not copy answers from another student or provide answers to another student at any time. Students who are caught copying or providing answers during assessments or activities will receive a grade of zero and be assigned working lunch to complete the assignment. Failure to complete the assigned task during working lunch will result in an after school detention until the assignment is complete.

  1. WORKING LUNCH

Students assigned working lunch five times during the year will be assigned after school detention. A notice will be sent home to parents after the fourth working lunch has been assigned.

  1. VAPING OR VAPE DEVICES

Students caught using or in possession of a vape device will receive three days of ISAP and be required to complete a tobacco education course on the first offense. The second offense will result in a suspension from school and three days of ISAP upon return.

  1. ISAP (In School Alternate Placement)

When students fail to meet expectations the consequence of ISAP could be assigned. When a student receives this consequence they will be required to complete a behavior modification packet. The packet and daily assigned work from teachers must be completed in order to exit ISAP the following day.

  1. MISSING WORK

Eastside wants ALL students to SOAR! As stated in our SOAR expectations, we expect students to be ACCOUNTABLE for their own learning. As part of this accountability, students are expected to complete all work / assignments. We also expect students to be ORGANIZED, and have assignments ready to turn in on time.

  1. FORGERY

Occasionally, paperwork will be sent home with students that require a parent signature. If paperwork is returned unsigned, the student will be asked to make a phone call to inform parents about the unsigned document and meet with an administrator. Forging a parent signature is not acceptable.

  • The first time a student forges a signature he/ she will be required to serve a working lunch and make a phone call home to inform parents about the forgery and the document that was to be signed.

  • If a student forges a signature a second time, the consequence will be one day of ISAP.

  1. BARK Notices

Students, please be aware that BCPS utilizes BARK, an internet safety solution, allowing our schools to detect concerning internet usage. Inappropriate use of technology is thoroughly monitored and EMS administration, as well as district level administration, receive email notices of alarming content. Monitored content includes, but is not limited to: student email correspondence, web searches, saved photos and videos, chats, files, student G Suite and Microsoft 365 accounts, etc. The system monitors for threats of violence, self-harm, cyber-bullying, drug and alcohol related content, and much more. School administrators monitor and are notified of potential threats and inappropriate use of technology. The main goal of this is to keep our students safe while using computer technology.

Please adhere to the electronic user agreement and the district technology user policy while using your devices. Failure to do so can result in the loss of school technology privileges.

  1. PUBLIC DISPLAY OF AFFECTION (PDA)

PDA is not allowed on Eastside’s campus at any time. Kissing, extended hugs, and holding hands are not allowed. Failure to meet expectations will result in parent

notification and an administrative conference on the first offense. A second similar incident will result in ISAP.

  1. GUM

We pride ourselves on keeping our school clean; therefore, gum is not permitted.
