5TH GRADE, MWES
"Students are encouraged to pick a topic of interest, create a burning question, and complete research to answer it. This experience positively impacts students in a way that they can see the world outside of the classroom and to focus on their passions as individuals. The students have been so excited to communicate with members of not only our community, but across the United States. They are enthusiastic to research new information and put forth great effort each session. They will present their findings in various product forms (depending on audience and purpose)." -- Ms. Mullins

Mrs. Shumaker and Tiffany Williams began this project with William's 5th graders last year. It was such an exciting new experience for the students and teachers that we wanted to continue the project this year. Students are encouraged to pick a topic of interest, create a burning question, and complete research to answer it. They present their findings in various product forms (depending on audience and purpose).
This experience positively impacts students in a way that they can see the world outside of the classroom and to focus on their passions as individuals. Students have opportunities to interview experts (live chats, email, letter-writing, etc.) and discover new sources to gather information (podcasts, texts, videos, websites, etc.). The students have been so excited to communicate with members of not only our community, but across the United States. They are enthusiastic to research new information and put forth great effort each session.
