ANSWERING DBQs THROUGH PEAR DECK

"One digital tool which is transferring my classroom is Pear Deck. Not only can I use previously created Google Slides presentations, I can give students real time feedback throughout the lesson and/or take a temperature check on how students are understanding the material. During the 2020-21 school year, I taught social studies in the Bullitt Cloud Academy for Hebron/Zoneton. Pear Deck ensured all my students were participating and allowed me to see how each was progressing throughout our lessons. During this school year with my 7th grade social studies classes, I've adapted my Pear Deck use to assist myself and students in the inquiry/DBQ process with a focus on annotation of texts. Again, Pear Deck allows me to give them real time feedback. Students also can ask clarifying questions as they work. Currently, I've entered into a coaching cycle with Pear Deck to better learn how this tool can assist me in reaching all students. " -- Mrs. Ballard
