"Learning about growth mindset empowers students to take control of their learning. In this particular PBL they not only realized the value of having a growth mindset, but they also were given the opportunity to be leaders within the school. The end product required students to teach the younger students about growth mindset through digital presentations and skits." -- Mrs. Utley

UNIT PROBLEM STATEMENT: After last year, students are having trouble adjusting to the rigors of a school day and overcoming the challenges they face. We need to find a way to help our students deal with these challenges, learn to not give up and be successful.
DRIVING QUESTION: How can we as older, more experienced students help our younger students overcome the challenges they face at school so that they can be more successful in school?
Students researched what a growth mindset is. They compared a growth mindset with a fixed mindset and the impacts of what having a growth mindset can do to the brain. They learned from the teacher sharing some "Famous Failures" and the importance of perseverance while having a growth mindset to achieve their goals and dreams.
Mrs. Utley then partnered with her Digital Learning Coach and the Gifted and Talented Teacher to collaborate with her and her students in the classroom. The DLC worked with half the class to create a presentation, while the GT Teacher worked with the other half to create a skit.
