4TH GRADE, CROSSROADS ELEMENTARY
"I have incorporated BreakerSpace into my stations in STEAM lab for 4th and 5th graders. They are using reverse engineering to learn about computers. They are able to disassemble computers with screwdrivers that would otherwise be disposed of (with permission, of course). 😊 The students have really enjoyed taking apart the devices to study how the internal components work." -- Mrs. Fiske
TECHNOLOGY: Through exploration, students learn the ins and outs of devices
ENGINEERING: Students practice identifying problems and doing hands-on research & exploration using devices
INNOVATIVE PROBLEM SOLVER
SELF-DIRECTED NAVIGATOR
PRODUCTIVE COLLABORATOR
"My colleague, Kacie Fiske, is the STEAM/Music teacher at Maryville. She loves to find new engaging ways to get students excited about STEAM. She approached me at the beginning of the school year about repurposing old desktops, Chromebooks, keyboards, and mice. Students now have “BreakerSpace”, an opportunity to think of creative ways to transform these items that would have otherwise been disposed of, into something new and ingenious."
