Why you need a Public Adjuster?

A Public Adjuster is defined by Florida Statutes here link. A public adjuster is your ally against the Insurance company. A public adjuster holds the insurance accountable and makes sure they are indemnifying the insured fully. In other words, we help get your money out of the back account of the insurance company and into yours. A public adjuster helps answer the question, "What do I do now that I had a loss?"

Now that you had a loss, do you want to rely on the insurance company, who makes ZERO money on claims payments, to estimate your loss properly? If you got hit by a semi, do you want to use their attorney to help you or would you hire your own attorney to work on your behalf? Same applies to insurance. If Nationwide is on your side and you are in good hands with State Farm, you have to wonder why Public Adjusters exist at all. One example of bad insurance practices are demonstrated in a $14.5 million dollar settlement paid by State Farm to Joe Radcliffe. https://www.propertyinsurancecoveragelaw.com/2011/07/articles/state-farm/state-farm-hit-with-145-million-dollar-defamation-verdict/ . I have personally met Joe Radcliffe and his downfall was that he took State Farm to task in the avoidance of paying legitimate claims. Joe now trains contractors and others on how to handle an insurance claim properly. See http://www.sellthejob.com/

So here are my top 10 reasons you should not delay in hiring a public adjuster:

Public Adjusters take the burden away from the insured when a claim is made by handling inspections, communications and negotiations with the insurance company.

Public Adjusters can decipher what your insurance contract says to determine whether or not you are being covered properly. I have personally seen insurance companies misrepresent coverage to keep from covering claims.

Insurance companies are required, by law, to negotiate claims with Public Adjusters, IN GOOD FAITH, for a proper settlement.

Public Adjusters know laws and coverage that mandate insurance companies to pay claims. For example, if you have a roof leak and it leaks into your drywall, did you know that you, the insured, are entitled to O and P, 10 and 10 or also know as the overhead and profit that would be paid to a general contractor for overseeing your project. Case law says you are entitled to this money. See an explanation here: Merlin Law Blog about Trinindad Case. Or the 25% rule which states that if, for example, your roof sustained damage and over 25% requires repair, the whole thing should be replaced.

Public Adjusters have shown to increase claims by an average of 747%. See the study here: http://www.oppaga.state.fl.us/MonitorDocs/Reports/pdf/1006rpt.pdf

Public Adjusters work on a percentage basis of money they recover. If you have a payout of say $1,000 by the insurance and the Public Adjuster gets involved subsequently increasing the claim to $40,000, they do not receive a percentage of the original $1,000. The percentage varies among Public Adjusters, but the maximum allowed by law is 20%. Bulletproof never charges 20%. That percentage is of money you would never have seen without the Public Adjuster working for you.

Public Adjusters help contractors justify their costs in the event you have hired a contractor and the insurance refuses to honor their estimate. It is a 3rd degree felony for a contractor to negotiate a claim on your behalf. Many contractors do not know this and end up committing a crime trying to help a client. See the warning issued to contractors here: https://www.myfloridacfo.com/division/agents/industry/warnings/docs/dbpr_contractor_warning.htm

Bulletproof Public Adjusting and many other Public Adjusters handle all the documentation and photographs for you. Bulletproof uses Xactimate, which is used by 90% of the industry, to estimate losses properly. "You need 3 estimates" is a lie perpetrated by the insurance company to put the work back on you to pay you less than you deserve. Xactimate has a huge database of current pricing based off the market average. So if they have this at their fingertips, why on earth are they asking you to get 3 estimates?

While I can't speak for all Public Adjusting companies, Bulletproof has a background in construction estimating. We are going to let an insurance company leave out necessary items that are required to indemnify the client. Do you know what roofing material and underlayment are allowed on a 3/12 pitched roof? Do you know what type of window is required by code when over 25% of the windows are required to be replaced? While there are many good and knowledgeable adjusters out there estimating claims, the only thing required to be an adjuster is to take an online course, get the certification, and get the state required insurance or bond and now your future is in their hands. What happens is the claim is underpaid because the adjuster just doesn't know any better and the homeowner is left short when it comes to paying a contractor.

With Bulletproof you have nothing to lose. If we get you nothing, you pay nothing, yet we still took the burden of navigating insurance claims off your busy schedule. Our goal is to protect the insured and make sure they are paid fully for their loss.
