This last school year has been full of important exams, and university choices. I was accepted into the Bachelor of Robotics Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Mardid, along with the Bachelor of Molecular Biology at Sofia University, and the Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering in English at University of Chemical Technology and Metalurgy in Sofia.
I had to make the tough decision to let go of two of the three options. As someone who has laid eyes on the Neuroscience bachelors three years ago, I wanted something that would be as close as possible to this dream of mine. Universities didn't want to accept me into their Neuroscience programs because of my past education with a major in Software Development, instead of the Natural Sciences.
I will be trying again next year, this time with a transcript from UCTM's Biomedical Engineering, where the subjects I'm studying will be more correlated to Neuroscience. I am hopeful that it will all turn out for the best.
Recently, I found out I am quite interested in studying Neuroscience for my Bachelor's degree. I was able to attend an open day at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, for their Brain Science bachelor program. I loved the program structure, the exciting subjects, the future vision for the alumni and how beautiful the town was! Everyone was using bikes to get around, I saw so many international students and talked to some which study the program. They told me about positives and negatives, personal experience and their satisfaction in being there. Overall, I enjoyed everything, except for the cold weather, and for now, this is definitely the major I would like to study, however I'm still open to exploring other university options.
On the 9th of April, I attended a conference about .NET Developers, companies looking for interns, and networking with people in the field.
Me and my classmates decided to create a school club about science and exploration of different topics like psychology, biology, finance, culture and so on and so forth. The whole idea is to create a place which develops with its members, driven by their curiosity and interest in the topics. At the beginning, we plan on monitoring the meetings, sort of like lectures where we teach interesting stuff. As the club progresses, we want this role to be available to other students as well, those who show the most enthusiasm and interest.
Unfortunately, the club likely won't start this school year, because we are very busy with internships, projects and out of school activities. However, I'm still passionate about it and will not let the idea fall apart, because I think it is a meaningful and important project.
