Our world is awash in data. From electronic health records to social media usage, climate data, sports statistics, and financial trends, data is everywhere. Data is also driving technological innovations, such as generative AI, which have the potential to reshape our society and the structure of our workforce. Given its ubiquity and power, it’s crucial that everyone understands data and data-informed claims. To really harness data’s potential and to ensure it is used responsibly, we must expand data science education and equip more students with data skills. A first step is exposing high school students to the field of data science, sparking their curiosity for educational opportunities and careers in data.
Data Adventure Day is an interactive outreach event for local high school students and their teachers, hosted at Bucknell University.
The event will include hands-on data analysis activities, small group discussions with Bucknell community members, and a college panel of current Bucknell students from a variety of majors who have interests in data science.
