General Swedish Massage
General Swedish massage warms up the tissue and encourages whole body relaxation by stimulating the body’s parasympathetic system. Specific relaxation can also aid the body in correcting muscular imbalances or decrease muscular tension due to mental and/or physical stresses.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage includes multiple modalities of therapeutic techniques that can help decrease pain and encourage movement fluidity. Techniques included are trigger point therapy for muscle and referral pain, fascial therapy for stiffness and muscle pain and frictions for the breakdown of scar tissue.
Manual Lymph Drainage
Manual lymph drainage is a specialized technique used to treat inflammation and edema. The therapist uses small, unidirectional strokes to manually return the stagnant fluid to the circulatory system.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is the application of moist heat or moist cold to stimulate tissue and the body’s systems. Heat can be used to relax deep tissues, promote circulation and relieve pain while cold can be used to decrease swelling and pain. Hydrotherapy is appropriate for acute or chronic pain.
Remedial Exercise
Remedial exercise is used to correct muscular imbalances or weaknesses in order to prevent or treat pain. It includes stretches and strengthening exercises that can be done during the treatment or at home. Stretches can be used to increase range of motion, decrease tone, improve posture and promote relaxation. Strengthening exercises can be used to increase strength, promote circulation, speed healing and improve posture.
Physical Assessment
Physical assessments are offered for free as a mandatory component to treatment. They are performed at least once per year. A physical assessment includes an analysis of posture, gait, blood pressure reading and a series of orthopedic tests to determine the direction of treatment.
Non-Chiropractic Joint Mobilizations
Non-chiropractic joint mobilizations can be used to gently stretch joint capsules, relieve compressed/impinged tissue and encourage joint mobility and health. These joint mobilizations are NOT chiropractic adjustments.
