Mrs. Leslee's
Counseling Corner
Hello! My name is Leslee Spencer-Long(aka Mrs. Leslee) and I am the counselor at Oak Meadow.
Here are some of the resources the counseling program at Oak Meadow offers-
Classroom Guidance Lessons-Once a month, I rotate to each classroom to teach a social/emotional lesson. Lessons typically last 30 minutes and cover topics such as Self-regulation, Friendship skills, Mindfulness, Problem solving, and Fixed vs Growth Mindset.
Team Eagle Peer Mediators-3rd-5th grade student mediators who help support students during recess.
The Kindness Crew-3rd-5th grade group that helps promote kindness throughout the school year.
Small Group Counseling-A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers. Groups run for approximately 8-10 weeks and every effort is made to schedule these meetings during light-academic blocks of time.
Small group topics include: Friendship, Worry, Anger, Grief, Separation/Divorce, Self-esteem, Self-regulation, Guiding Girls & Guys to Greatness(Life Skills)
If you're interested in a group for your child, please fill out the referral form and return it to the front office or your child's teacher.
