Simon Li is a PhD student in the Clinical Psychology program at Boston University. He completed his B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Economics from Denison University, followed by an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Simon's research focuses on the emotional-cognitive processes underlying self-injurious thoughts and behaviors. 

He is particularly interested in using real-time monitoring and computational models to understand why individuals engage in self-injurious thoughts and behaviors and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms, such as ambivalence and emotional regulation.

Kiyan Irani (he/him) is a first-year doctoral student in the Quantitative Psychology Lab at Boston University. He holds an Honors BS in finance with distinction as a Business Scholar from the University of Utah and an MA in clinical psychology from Columbia University. 

Before transitioning to psychological research, Kiyan worked for five years as a Senior Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs, a global investment bank. His research focuses on utilizing statistical and computational modeling to assess health disparities among sexual and gender minorities.

Outside the lab, Kiyan enjoys various outdoor activities, including hiking, rock and ice climbing, skiing, and soccer. He also enjoys reading, listening to true-crime podcasts, and taking spontaneous weekend camping trips.

Hello! My name is Philipp and I’m a junior at BU majoring in psychology. My research interests include the development of mental disorders in marginalized groups and how intersectionality plays a role. I am also interested in the mechanisms and risk factors of nonsuicidal self-injury.

I am still developing my interests in different psychology fields, but I currently plan to pursue clinical psychology. Outside work and school, I enjoy exercising, playing piano, and collecting bucket hats. I love bucket hats  :) 

Phoebe is a master's psychology student at Boston University. She earned a B.S. in Psychology with minors in sociology and environmental studies at Santa Clara University. 

Her research interests include identifying and understanding psychosocial factors in predicting behavioral patterns. She aspires to use data as means of creating evidence-based and equitable psychopathological interventions for marginalized groups.

In her free time, Phoebe likes to do art, play ukulele, watch anime, go on nature/city walks, and eat good food.

Leila is a psychology master's graduate at Boston University. Their research interests include, but are not limited to, expressed aggression, LGBT+ mental health, and the psychology of unconventional social groups. In their free time, they relax by writing, reading, exploring new places, and of course, watching scary movies. Their future plans are nebulous, but currently include pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology with a forensic focus.

Hello! My name is Aidan Ferguson, and I am a Master's Student in Psychology at Boston University, scheduled to graduate in 2025! I recently graduated from Boston University with my undergraduate degree in Sociocultural Anthropology in 2024. I am one of Dr. Liu's research assistants specializing in Sexual and Gender minorities, researching physical/mental health disparities they face, and what can be done to alleviate that. My research interests lie within cross-cultural psychology: how one's upbringing and the culture in which one grows up affect how one sees and copes with the world! My hobbies include doing niche research on various cultural and political topics, watching video essays about culturally/politically relevant/historical phenomena, playing my violin/singing, exploring different parts of the city and traveling, and going out to try various foods!

Hi! I'm Andre and I'm a junior at Boston University double majoring in mathematics and psychology with minors in chemistry and computer science. I'm currently in the middle of figuring out my higher education path, but I have a variety of interests, including artificial intelligence, clinical developmental psychology, and drug based interactions on mental health. On the side, I'm a portrait photographer of five years now and enjoy searching for new areas of foliage with my friends in New England! :-)

Zoe is a sophomore at Simmons University where she is earning her BA in Psychology, with a double minor in Statistics and Health Humanities. Her research interests include the clinical and personality area, specifically relating to therapy interventions for and risk factors of high risk mental health disorders. In her free time she tutors calculus for her peers and explores new coffee shops.

Hello! I am Ha Linh Nguyen and currently a rising junior at Simmons University. I am majoring in Data Science and Analytics and I am an international student from Vietnam. I am very excited to join Dr Qimin Liu's lab under the instruction of Dr Lauren Trichtinger. And I am looking forward to collaborating and working with all of you.

Maham Taj is a fourth-year student at Simmons University majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior accompanied by minors in data science and biostatistics. She is particularly interested in researching Autism Spectrum Disorder and its impacts on cognitive development. Her goal is to contribute to the understanding and improvement of therapeutic approaches for individuals with ASD. Outside of the lab, Maham enjoys thrift shopping and hiking. 

Ravienne Hodgson is a third-year student majoring in Psychology and Philosophy and Neuroscience with a minor in Visual Arts. She is interested in depression treatment, with a focus on learned helplessness, locus of control, and ethics in evolving treatment paradigms. She hopes to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology. In her free time, she draws, knits, gardens, and makes music with friends. 

My name is Loretta (Ziyue) Hu and I'm a rising senior at UCLA majoring in Statistics and Data Science. My home town is Shenzhen, China. Most of my experience involves data analysis projects, but I recently developed a passion for public health, especially areas around mental health. I look forward to working on the integration of data science methods into clinical topics. Outside of career and academics, I love reading and martial arts.
