Use a stepper motor, coupling shaft, two bearing, a long lead screw, a nut, and a linear guide to push a carrier along one axis. The end goal is to create a system with 2.5 degrees of freedom that will use G-Code to draw a square with a retracting marker.
Above shows the utilization of an Arduino board, foam material, and hot glue to create a carrier ("Jack" the jack-o-lantern) and track to move along one axis.
