Welcome! The goal of this website is to provide an in-depth analysis of Ancient Egyptian Civilization from the Early Dynastic Period to the end of the Old Kingdom, c. 3000 BCE–2200 BCE (Bard 2015:28). To help our users see the most complete picture of what life was like in Egypt during this time period, our research was divided into four components that create a holistic image of society. Using the navigation bar above, you can delve deeper into the social stratification, religious beliefs, cultural norms, and burial practices of Egypt over a period of 800 years! For your convenience, these four components are arranged into historical context according to dynastic chronology records. This site has been made with the careful examination and use of primary sources in tandem with secondary interpretations for reference. You can find these sources on the last web page. In short, Ancient Egypt has a broad historical significance to the development of archaeology as a science and humanity. It is for this reason, among many others that we decided to explore the vital aspects of its culture in an interactive setting. Feel free to start your digging!
